Lessons learned:

1) When you file a change of address with the post office, they offer to send you free coupons. Take them! I had to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to pick up a couple things, only to find that the coupon they sent me wasn't the usual 20% off any one item, it was 20% off everything!

2) Bed, Bath, and Beyond is darned expensive. I needed a bunch of bath things, so seemed like a place with "bath" in its name was a good choice. At least the 20% off everything made me feel a little better. (Plus, while I usually hate shopping, I actually didn't mind this shop at all.)

I visited the new apartment again today to drop off more stuff I was hand-moving. It didn't seem anywhere near as small as the first time I saw it. (What's up with that, brain?) I said hello to two neighbors, but the conversations were mega-awkward. The man I met seemed angry at me from the moment we spoke, and the woman who lives across from me I just totally failed at conversation with. Talking to people shouldn't be so hard! :/

Continuing the trend of injuring myself when stress levels are high: today I sliced open the tips of my right index and middle fingers. Breaking two toes days before I went on the cruise was worse, but this is no picnic. (Especially since anything and everything I could clean the cuts with was packed. I ended up using napkins and packing tape to make bandaids.)

Movers are coming bright and early tomorrow morning, so all this is almost over. So long as my internet connection works and Ellie New Cat doesn't escape I'm going to call the whole thing a big success. Oh, and the truck not getting in an accident and catching on fire would be nice too, but it's only a 5 minute trip between apartments, so hopefully we'll be safe on that end.

If there's one thing I've learned it's wound care... the best thing you can use is soap and clean water. All those funky things they sell in stores? Most of them actually do little or nothing. You need prescriptions to get the stuff that really works.

I've been dealing with two operations on Mark all year, and I change bandages every day. Meaning? Soap and water, keep things covered. :)

And take care of yourself!!

Oh! That's good to know. Soap and water was just what I used. Seems to be doing the trick!

Good luck with the final bits of moving! :)

(Haha, the Final Fantasy CD you sent in that box made a friend of mine very happy. I'm glad because I had no idea what to do with it. I don't know Final Fantasy from the broad side of a barn!)

I'm glad it did! And thanks! I wanted to send you a few other fanish/anime/gaming things, but the box ended up too full.

Gack, I do not have the shopping gene at all. I loathe BB&B. The prices are ridiculous and the one closest to my location is so huge I can't find anything. It is a large as a football field and has two floors. It takes 10 minutes at least -- more like 15, just to get to checkout from the bedding area, because you must take stairs, elevator or escalator to get back to the floor where they are, and then another 5 minutes at least to get from lower floor egress and travel across the acres to the register lines.

I can never FIND where the things I'm looking for are located! And with my bad back, needing to be on my feet for so long, is not good.

Love, C.

Our Target is like that. No store needs multiple floors! It really kills any desire for me to go there.

I know just how your feet feel too, especially today. (And I know I'm going to be so stiff and in pain tomorrow.)

Neosporin is good for such cuts, we've learned.

Good luck! Stop hurting yourself, OK? But it sure is easy to do when involved with moving.

Love, C.

Usually I like using something like that, but it was all packed. Luckily they seem to be healing well with just soap and water...

they offer to send you free coupons

... wish ours did that.

Ouch, your poor fingers. And of course everything was packed, that's Murphy's Law at work again.

Hope the rest of the move goes well.

I think it was a new thing? Or at least I've never heard about it before (and it seems like half of my friends list is currently moving!).
