Sad note to end a sad day

What a depressing end to a TV show. Spoilers for the end of this season's Homeland.
Man am I depressed. My favorite character was killed off. It's not really surprising, but it's still depressing as hell. He was the whole reason I watched the show.
I don't even feel like writing much about it. I'm just depressed. On one hand, it feels silly to be depressed about the death of a fictional character, but I supposed that's evidence that the show was good.
Time permitting, tomorrow I'm going to post a book review. Also, I'm hoping to get a copy of The Hunger Gays (not a typo) to review next.

Date: 2013-12-17 04:59 pm (UTC)Poor Bordy died. It wasn't surprising at all, but he went through so much crap that it kills me that he was killed. I wish he could have gotten a nice 'happily ever after' ending somewhere quiet.
He was used, tortured, and abused over and over again, and ended up killed. So sad and unfair.

Date: 2013-12-17 05:41 pm (UTC)He quit. The FBI? Yes. The show? Unknown. Or rather, he was fired from the FBI (but not the show!).
He was the only other character I was semi-interested in (but that went downhill a lot this season).

Date: 2013-12-17 05:45 pm (UTC)Wish they'd killed off Brody's emo gallump of a daughter, she annoyed me to no end the way she shlepped herself through every scene. A bucket of lead would have more liveliness.

Date: 2013-12-17 05:50 pm (UTC)His daughter is still in this season (the first 4-5 eps are horrible because they have so much of her in them), but near the end of the season she has a good scene.
Oddly, though they spent way, way too much time on the daughter and family, the final ep has no reaction from them to Brody's death. He died about 30 minutes in, so there was plenty of time for other stuff. Seemed really strange. Everyone hated having them in all season, then when it would have been powerful to see them reacting, nothing.
Edit: Related: The first 4-5 eps of the season aren't very good at all, but it's worth sticking with the show -- the rest of the season is really good, and the final ep was great (other than what happened in it...).

Date: 2013-12-17 05:55 pm (UTC)The rest...how odd! I'm sure they're going somewhere with this, I mean it is a brilliant show, at least the seasons I watched.

Date: 2013-12-17 05:58 pm (UTC)I'm really not sure where they're going with the show. The final ep of this season felt like a perfect end to the series (but it has been renewed, so). I guess it's going to be just Carie off on her wacky off-the-meds adventures. /yawn
I'm going to be so interested to hear what you think once you watch it!

I'll let you know! :)

Date: 2013-12-17 05:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, I get so involved in some TV shows it's like the characters become good friends. I don't know how often I was in shock watching Game of Thrones, where you never know who's going to be slaughtered. LOL

Date: 2013-12-17 05:43 pm (UTC)And yeah, I know what you mean about the characters becoming friends. I know they're not really (they're not even real people!), but it still feels like you know them.

Date: 2013-12-17 05:50 pm (UTC)Yep, I agree...I watch some stuff and just become attached. Not to the person, since they're acting a part, but to the character. If Tyrion or Daenerys will be killed off in Game of Thrones at some point, I'm seriously going to cry! LOL
