New kind of spam
Apr. 23rd, 2003 08:23 pmThere's a new kind of porn email spam being sent to me: When you delete it (or move to another email) it creates a popup. My popup killers do not catch it.
Eudora. There appears to be no option for viewing a message in text only.
I believe this is the offending bit of the code (viewing the source of the email)
<body
UnLoadOff="window.open('http://203.33.196.85/celeb/celebD/index2.html','JP',

That's the only bit of code it could be, and the 'onUnload' looks suspicious. Question is, how to stop this... A Googling and a search of the Eudora site makes it seem that there isn't an option to view all messages in plain text. Suck.
This will take some thinking...

Date: 2003-04-23 10:29 pm (UTC)This is a javascript tag that causes the new page to be displayed when the current page is closed, either through the window closing your you navigating elsewhere. The only way out is either to kill the process (ctrl-alt-delete and kill IE) or turn off javascript.
It's pretty evil. Who would see this and think, "Gee, I closed it, but now that it's back, I want to be a customer!"?

Exactly... but it must work sometimes, or they wouldn't be doing it.
