Happy Thing #16: Pocketfuls

Pocketfuls are "upcycled" matchboxes, made by webmyrcury. She hand-paints each one based on a theme, character, or idea you supply, then fills the box with little matching things. They're beautiful, tiny, and oh so cute!

I loved the beach example she had posted, so asked for one like that but with a different inside. I wanted more sea/sky/gulls on mine, and got just that!



My cellphone camera does it NO justice. The sand and "foam" sparkle like real sand would, the water is many shades of blue, and the sky is beautiful.

The inside is jam-packed full of little trinkets (so many I could hardly pack them all back in!).

Slightly blurry, but it's full of shells, smoothed bits of colored glass, a piece of drift wood, and other things:


That's all sitting on a napkin, and the box is a matchbox, so you can picture how tiny it all is!

Each one costs $10, which includes postage. Seems more than worth it for me! Her post offering them here.

Hi! Hope you don't mind me jumping in here to answer - What I usually do for shipping outside the US is estimate quite high, and then reimburse if I am way off. To ship from Florida to where thistle_chaser is, here in the US, it was about $3. So for outside the US I'd estimate probably $10 just to be safe and then reimburse as soon as I get to the post office and get the real cost. Which wouldn't take long at all, from the time I got your payment. (Also the way I pack them up, I don't imagine adding several more into the same package would change the shipping cost very much) - Hope that helps! I really would love one, and I'm trying to make up my mind on what I'd like. Do you take any theme (general ones like "tea" or "cooking", for example)? Yes, shipping outside the US is more expensive - I deal a bit in the US, swapping and buying things, and the USPS price hike was outrageous! I'm sure we'll work something out, though. Don't worry too much about reimbursements; paypal takes their chunk in fees too after all, and I wouldn't want you to have to cover that.

*nodnod* Any theme you can think of! I have various stashes of random little bits and bobs that I have saved for years. If I find I'm way too pressed to find anything related, I will let you know! I do love a challenge though. :D

I know, I swap a lot of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab products with the fans in the US, and I hate that they sometimes pay quadruple the postage we have here, so I've taken to covering some of theirs so it's more equal. Ironically, mail takes four times as long to land here. It used to arrive within ten days or so, but now it sometimes takes six week!

Okay, a challenge - I love tea, incense, tobacco pipes, cats and books...and any warm, cozy thing. If I had to choose a theme, it'd be "warm, cozy" along those lines. *g*

BPAL is brilliant, and there are fans all over the world. But USPS really took some of the fun out of it with the price hike. I expect we'll get used to the new situation, find a way and keep swapping - lol.

I sent you the funds, and I'm glad - I thought I was asking too much with all this...stuff. I ought to explain a little, I have Asperger's Syndrome, and while I seem perfectly "normal", I have a high level of anxiety and sensory issues when I have to leave the house. A tiny box of "home" with all my favorite things is something I'd always carry to calm my nerves, I think, and you seem like just the one to create it. :)
