I can't stop watching this gif.

In unrelated news, I reached the point in my Stargate: Atlantis rewatch where I quit before, and I can kind of see why. I'm going to stick with it though, hopefully it will get better.

In other unrelated news, I'm stressed out of my mind. I can always tell when my stress is at its worst, because I stop eating. (Maybe I need to be stressed more often!) Hopefully actually getting some sleep tonight will help, though I also don't feel like going to bed or sleeping, so who knows.

Wow, that is some expert butt wiggle. I bet he's a great pouncer.

So sorry you're so stressed. Does it have anything to do with sleep deprivation? I've been reading your sleep study posts, it sounds beyond annoying. Well, I hope you did get a good night's sleep last night.

Isn't that quite a wiggle?

I think lack of sleep was probably a big part of it. I'm feeling much better this morning! Thanks. :)

Bad Thistle! You need foods! My wife has the same problem - she gets stressed and stops eating. It has taken me literally years to show her it is much easier to lose weight if she eats more+more often. For weeks she complained that she felt like she was eating too much. At weigh-in, she was down 15lbs. She got stressed due to crap at work, stopped eating again, gained 10lbs back. She's so mad about it too.

Don't stress. Take some time. Relax. Eat foods.

Thanks! Sleep helped. I'm starving this morning, I'm about to go make breakfast before work.

I wish her luck re-losing the 10 pounds!

Glad to hear you're doing better.

Unfortunately, wife is aiming to lose about 40lbs. she's very frustrated about it right now - I had to see the doc friday, and I'm down almost 30 from my last physical (in September). I'm not competitive- I'm doing it to try to discover source of some heart problems - but she's very competitive, so she's pissed.

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
That's a hard thing to be competitive about, too. Everyone loses differently, especially when it comes to men vs women.

Good luck to you both! Especially with the heart problem.

For stress there's a vitamin that may help. Everyone is different, but it's REALLY helped me. I take it twice a day, but started at once a day.

It's called 5HTP. Yep, sounds like an internet thing, but it's really a vitamin. I get it at Costco and Walgreens. Helps calm mood, and I've never noticed any side effects. I take other meds with it too without problems. My stress levels have plummeted, and my anxiety much lower now. Maybe try it? Doesn't cost much and you can always stop. :) Just know that there's no drastic change. I simply realized I wasn't a huge ball of stress a few days after trying it, and my mind wasn't running in endless anxiety cycles about stupid shit.

That sounds really helpful. I need something that does just that. Googling it now. Thanks! <3

If you find anything weird let me know. ;) But I've been taking it for years now and have had only good experiences.

Will do! I would have ordered it today, but Amazon changed in an annoying way. Instead of Prime members getting shipping for free, for small items (like bottles of pills...) you have to buy $25 of big stuff to get the little thing shipped for free. I'm trying to find $5 more of something I'll need so it will ship.

Date: 2014-05-07 04:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kelen.livejournal.com
That sucks! ..And you paid for this, yes? :(

Date: 2014-05-07 04:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, like $90/year. Price went up from $70/year, value went down. I don't think I'll be keeping Prime for much longer, especially now that I don't buy physical books anymore.

Date: 2014-05-07 04:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kelen.livejournal.com
Doesn't sound worth it. Do you get any other perks? Even free shipping.. that's a waste of money. Do you order enough there to justify $90 in shipping?

Date: 2014-05-07 04:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, I actually do order a lot, but fewer and fewer things fall under Prime free shipping (or it's cheaper to buy the same item at a lower price + shipping than the Prime version price + no shipping is).

You also get free streaming movies and TV, but I almost never remember that part.

Years back it was really worth it, but now it's very questionable.

Isn't that always the way? They lure you in with lots of bells and whistles, then gradually remove them all. :P

Date: 2014-05-07 04:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yep. I ended up buying $89 of stuff in this order to get the free shipping on the bottle of pills and another "addon item" (too small to get free on its own). Not every item Amazon sells counts towards the $25 you have to spend to get it.

$48 was for cat food -- same price I'd pay in the store, but I don't have to lug it home. Doesn't count towards $25.
Fish oil + microwave meals -- the $25 I needed to spend; I needed both and both were at the same or better price than the store.
The two small items I wanted free shipping on -- about $15 total for both

So on one hand, it was all stuff I needed and the prices were what I'd pay elsewhere, but on the other all I would have ordered if given the chance was that one bottle of pills...

Grand total for shipping for all that was $5 (for the cat food). So it's kind of worth it, but more annoying than it used to be.

Date: 2014-05-07 04:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kelen.livejournal.com
Well, it gets you to buy more stuff. That's why they do it. It's a trap to be honest.

Date: 2014-05-07 06:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yep, you're right. So long as it's stuff I need, I'm okay until my membership runs out, but after that I'm going to have to look hard at how much I order and if it's still worth it.

Date: 2014-05-07 06:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kelen.livejournal.com
I get caught by this too, but yeah, sometimes it's just worth it to bump up to free when you need things. :)

I splurged, rare for me, on something I've wanted for over a decade now. It cost me all of $12, but there was absolutely nothing else I wanted on the site, so that $5 shipping fee was worth it. Didn't want to spend like $50 on stuff I didn't want just to get free shipping. Yet I've also done the $25 free shipping from Walgreens as it was stuff I needed.

Date: 2014-05-07 07:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, understandable. Sometimes I'm fine with paying shipping, too. (Like the cat food, even with the cost of shipping, it comes out to the same per can as getting it from the pet shop.)

What was it you wanted? If you don't mind telling. :)

Turns out I'm one of those people who have the opposite reaction to 5-HTP, at least when it comes to sleep. I found a thread about it here (http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/vitamins-supplements/661123-bad-reaction-5htp.html). I was awake all night long, feeling like I needed to jump out of bed and run around the room. Also, I'm not sure if it was the 5-HTP or not, but I had the most awful heartburn I ever had. (I ate the same dinner as the last two nights, but I did eat it an hour later, so I can't say for sure what caused it.)

I might try it once more next weekend just to be sure, but for now I both need a nap and my heart is racing so fast it might just gallop away.

Oh well! Good thought though! :)

Whenabouts is this in SG:A? I'm curious about what your dropoff point was. (I watched all of it awhile back, and there were a few points that could have happened at.)

Date: 2014-05-07 09:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
When Sam Carter takes over leadership. Oddly I didn't know who she was when I first watched SG:A. I've never watched the original SG, but I guess she's come up in enough fics and such since then that I know who she is. I only remember thinking of her as "that blonde woman".

The next ep after she took over had Ronon's former planet-friends ending up as Wraith-worshipers, and I hated the whole ep. It's been the first ep that I haven't liked.

It's just a minor bump in the road, or so I hope. I remember loving the show until this point in the story, then hating it after it. I hope I don't feel the same now.

Was that one of your points?

Date: 2014-05-08 03:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] juliansinger.livejournal.com
Oh. Yes. Very. I was primed to love Carter because I'd seen all of SG-1, but I really liked Weir, and the dynamic was different without her around. So yeah, that could have been one of my drop off points.

Date: 2014-05-08 03:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
I wonder if something else changed at that time (writers? directors?). I've watched three eps since her death, and all three of them bored me. I hadn't had a negative reaction to any ep before Weir's death, now I'm 0/3.

I really liked Weir, too. I was surprised, since I disliked her during my first viewing. I have no idea why that was, she's a great character, a strong woman, and really interesting.

Date: 2014-05-09 02:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] juliansinger.livejournal.com
Yeah, I wasn't watching on first run, and I haven't gone back to look, but I think Weir's actress deciding not to re-up messed up some of their plans and made things less focused, because (while I still liked it enough to watch it), the long-term cohesion... became less cohesive.

My partner watched SG-A before I did, and adored Weir, so again, I was primed to like her. I almost didn't manage it because they had another actress for her introduction in SG-1 (blond and less direct), and Tori Higginson's take on Weir was verra different. But yeah, once I could relax into her being a strong woman with a lot of interesting aspects to her, A+.

Date: 2014-05-09 03:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Ahh that makes sense. And now that you mention it, I do remember that she originally had a different actress.

I haven't watched an ep today, which is a first since I started rewatching. I don't want to drop the series though, hopefully it'll pull back together and be enjoyable for the last two seasons.
