Zootopia: All in all, I liked it a lot. I tried watching it twice before tonight, but I have a hard time sitting still for a movie, just watching and not multitasking. Loved the characters, settings, and the story as a whole. The ending was clever and believable.

One minor, silly thing that didn't work for me: How could a sloth drive a speeding car? As slow as they react? I can't see them driving at all, period. (I know that was a joke, but still, it just didn't make sense.)

Civil War: I shouldn't be surprised I liked this movie as much as I did -- Avengers movies always work for me.

Putting everything behind a cut, since I'm not sure what's a spoiler and what isn't.

I was confused about a number of characters, they must have either been introduced in other movies or comics or something. The Vision? I had never even heard of him before. Ant Man? I know he has/had a movie coming out, but I was at a loss for anything more than that. I heard the name Black Panther before, and knew of him from the Avengers cartoon. I think we were supposed to recognize some of the more minor characters too, but I kept saying "Who was that?".

I hadn't expected Spider-Man to work for me, but he did. I liked him quite a bit. Including how young he was.

Speaking of ages, wow. Robert Downey Jr looked really old in this. I was having a hard time buying him in the Iron Man suit anymore.

I swear, I read a bunch of fanfics that had a number of pieces of the movie plot in them. I wonder if they came from the comics, or if the authors just guessed well? Like Bucky killing Tony's parents.

Speaking of Bucky, he was the best thing in the movie. He needs his own!

The fight scenes were great. I expected the Hulk to show up at some point though. I don't like that Wanda character much.

I was pleased that this movie addressed an issue I have with many superhero movies: All the damage done to the area and innocent people while they're fighting.

I'm probably forgetting to mention some things, but the movie ran longer than I expected, and now I'm late logging.

I haven't finished Zootopia, until watched it until they came across those wolves guarding the entrance. The howling incident..What's the ending?

The Night Howlers weren't wolves, they were slang for a plant. The plant made any animal go feral. That assistant mayor (the sheep woman) was using it to make predators go bad, so the prey animals could take over the city. The bunny and the fox outsmarted her and recorded her with that carrot pen.

ooohh, I see! I wouldn't have suspected her..

Which is what makes the ending good!

You saw Age of Ultron, right? Vision was the guy created by mistake, as the... successor, I guess? to Jarvis.

(Ant Man had his own movie, last year, which I did not bother watching.)

I saw it, but I think I need to watch it again, I don't remember much about it at all...

Sadly, even after this movie, I don't want to go back and watch Ant Man's. Black Panther's though (I think I heard he's getting one?) and Spider-Man's I'd happily watch.

Fair enough. Anyway, so: pertinent to the plot, and I shall stop spoilering at you, since you don't remember.

Yep, he is. (Not sure when, but sometime soonish (comparatively).) So is Spidey actually, apparently. (Yay!)

These movies really are buildng on one another. The stuff you might have been confused about, I think drew from:

Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant Man
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Incredible Hulk (the Edward Norton one)

I really liked this one, but I wish they'd left Spidey's introduction for his own movie. The way they introduced him here felt very clunky to me.

Also, wrt Zootopia: I think the sloth's name was 'Flash' or something. He was the fastest of the sloths, so, him driving the sports car worked for me as well. :)

Do you work with a lot of India folks? They're the only ones I've seen do "wrt" (and the first time that took me forever to figure out what it meant, ha!).

I seem to be the odd man out on the Sloth fast driving, so it's probably just me and not the joke. :)

Agreed that his intro in this movie felt clunky, but I'm sure they did it as "advertising" for his movie.

It's odd, but I saw three of those four movies, but don't remember anything about them... I should try rewatching them at some point. Maybe before the next Avengers movie comes out. :P

(I use wrt, too, but generally mostly only in notes to myself.)

Now that I know what it stands for, I like it. :)

That's the point of the whole sloth joke! I liked Zootopia. But I'm used to watching a bunch of kids movies. My daughter loves Judy the Bunny, and my son loves the sloths. I thought it was cute, and it was good as far as movies like that go.

Agreed, it was quite cute, and entertaining for a kids movie.

I REALLY WANT TO SEE CIVIL WAR SO I AM NOT LOOKING AT YOUR STUFF ON THAT YET.

I also really liked Zootopia, and sometimes I think you would be better in law enforcement than me. It never even occurred to me about sloth reaction speed! Or maybe he speeds because once he gets the pedal to the metal he can't take it off to slow down? (Except that he stops for Nick and Judy).

I can see you were probably a kid like me who was deeply upset at the lack of continuity between the first two Care Bears movies regarding how the Cousins got their tummy signs.

Little things like that jump out at me, but it also means I have a much harder time (or it's outright impossible) for me to enjoy movies we're supposed to turn off our brains for.

I can see you were probably a kid like me who was deeply upset at the lack of continuity between the first two Care Bears movies regarding how the Cousins got their tummy signs.

I wish that were the case, but looking back now on things I loved then (the GI Joe cartoon series from the 80s, for example), I never saw all the problems that jump out at me now. I guess I just picked that up somewhere along the way.

I hope you enjoy Civil War! I REALLY REALLY want to watch it again, and that's seriously uncommon for me. I don't remember the last movie I wanted to watch a second time. Maybe the first Iron Man movie.
