I hate it how easy it is to click the like button on posts. It's so easy to be lazy and not comment! I always feel guilty if I just like something, but I suspect that guilt won't last.

Related: I'm still struggling to make LJ usable for me again. I can't find a style that makes my friends list clear and easy to read. Grumpy.

I'm so pissed at political stuff. There was a news story yesterday. If Hillary gets elected, the very first thing the Republicans have said they're going to do is try to impeach her. I swear to god, it's like dealing with children. They worry about the election being stolen from them? Yet they're the ones trying to do that (like telling people they can text their vote if they want to vote for Hillary...). They're worried about voter fraud, yet it was a TRUMP voter who tried to vote multiple times.

Sigh.

I also strongly suspect the news media is trying to make the race seem closer than it really is. The more afraid people are, the more they'll watch the news, so the news has a vested interest in making people afraid.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

So, here's a thing. I trade stocks, both for myself and for a sizable trust (not mine). For most of the election cycle (during which HRC was leading by a strong margin) markets were stable. Last week saw HRC lose ground to Trump -- markets fell. Monday the FBI made a public statement clearing HRC, and markets rallied hard. The major analysts are saying HRC seen as markets gain or stabilize, Trump will cause a major sell-off.

My in-laws (for whom I manage a large sum of money) are mostly Republican (catholics). I look forward to the holiday season, telling them how much their trust payout will be this year because Hillary was elected.

I hope you get the chance to do that. It's early yet, but the results so far this evening are becoming worrying.

Worrying indeed. Trump doing unexpectedly well has the S&P down 86 points premarket. Which would be the 3rd largest single day point loss since the 1960s, trailing only the 2008 financial meltdown.

I'm wondering what it means that the election of a Republican candidate results in a meltdown of the US markets.

Correction -- -94.25. Moved up to 2nd.

Looks like we should know within an hour.

I think the market meltdown will only be the tip of the iceberg if he wins.

Just to follow up -- market meltdown reversed itself completely by open, and is currently up > 1%. I gambled, I got lucky.

I think people & markets are just thankful the election season is over.

Congratulations on the gamble!

And I'd suspect so, yeah.

I'm afraid to update my LJ look because everyone keeps talking about how the LIKE button has messed up layouts and such! guess I will just be the Buffy girl forever!

I've just stopped looking at election stuff because so much of it makes my blood boil and want to punch people. I'm taking comfort in listening to 'Hamilton' and realizing we have always been bumping heads, since the start of our country. Yes, this whole thing is a media circus and a mess but, we can get through it all.

And if the Republicans really plan on wasting their time and tax dollars on getting Hilary impeached (which I'm pretty sure they can't just do, they like to talk like it is so easy to impeach/throw someone in jail/etc that it drives me crazy) then I hope their constituents realize how much they wasted everyone's tax dollars on a joke rather than dong their jobs!

Yeah, I wish I hadn't changed my style. If I could roll back, I would, no hesitation.

I'm sitting on the edge of my seat watching the news tonight. I wish I could ignore it, but it's worrying...

hen I hope their constituents realize how much they wasted everyone's tax dollars on a joke rather than dong their jobs!

Their constituents haven't realized that thus far, so I don't have much hope for them doing it now.

That's where I'd like to be as well... without the return trip back.
