I'm a poor scifi fan, I never really liked Star Wars much. And so, I'm just seeing Attack of the Clones now, and only because it's on TV and nothing else is on.

My god. These two guys walked into the scene (I'm told they're Obi Wan and Anakin). I've never ever gotten such strong 'Slash me!' vibes from any two characters ever before. One glimpse of these two, and I just knew they were sleeping together -- not that they belonged together or worked well together, but like they were already a couple.

Mmm.

Didn't hurt that the younger one kept calling the older one 'Master', either. Mmmm. I should have watched this sooner.

I'm seeing that, yeah. I love the effects and some of the aliens, but the acting? The writing? Gah. I'm alternating choking at it and laughing at it.

Exactly! I mocked one of them as it happened:

Thistle-Chaser laughs lots. This is so bad. Guy says to girl he likes: I hate sand. It's coarse and irritating and it gets everywhere... not like you.

The two of them together just so does not work. Their dialogue timing is totally off, not like a real conversation at all. Painful to listen to.

/Occasionally/, when I could ignore the dialogue and, more importantly, how they delivered their dialogue, the non-verbal communication they were doing worked for me.

But not often.

Did you finish yet?
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Not quite, looks like I have maybe an hour left. The young guy's mother just died. In his arms. How's that for handy timing?
From: [identity profile] juliansinger.livejournal.com
Heee hee. Yes. The bit afterwards, where, not to spoil things but I can't resist, he Swears He Will Kill Them All, is... the lamest thing ever. Honestly. It really is.

Heehee. That scene just finished, and yeah! I liked one thing about it: they played a little bit of his future theme music (the Darth Vader March, or whatever it's called).

Nod. That was a good tinge of What Is To Come.

The only good tinge.

We are watching Varekai off Tivo which just recorded. The cinematography is fantastic.

But, yeah Obi and Darth are the bomb, Darth and padme, well it so totally doesn't work and so totally just consumes way too much of the movie.

Oh crap! I meant to watch that, I forgot it was tonight. I told Tivo to record it, too. Wonder why it didn't try to start...

Varekai looked like it should be amazing, I watched the weekly "making of' series all year. Hopefully they'll replay it soon.

we saw it live

The show was fantastic and the cinematography really does it justice.

That said, the making of show did NOT. I'm embarassed in a sort of watch a train wreck sort of way to admit having watched the making of show. Of course the twins are yummuilicious.

I sort of figured they played up the trouble and bad parts. Makes for "good" TV, is probably their thinking.

And agreed on the twins! Mmm.
