Food, HP's Lupin
Aug. 13th, 2003 01:07 pmGot a salad with beans on it for lunch. Beans seemed okay (black beans, didn't really taste like anything, just a little mushy). Didn't like the salad in general though (it was a "southwestern" one, with corn and beans and spicy).
I'm indecisive about dinner, but mostly because I'm darned tired of thinking about food. (I actually had a dream last night that I was eating cucumbers in a room full of donuts.) Either I'll get fried rice from the Chinese place, or I'll make grilled cheese at home. Or something else. Who knows.
---------------
The Lupin in the books is a pretty bland fellow, and so I never really paid much attention to him. Didn't like him, didn't hate him, he was just there. It wasn't until I started reading fics about him that he started getting an actual personality. Odd thing is, I just stumbled across the stories by chance, I hadn't searched out fics about him on purpose.
Silver Moon by Maeglin Yedi was a fic I really should not have read at work (quite firmly NC-17), but wow, I'm glad I did anyway. Lupin/Macnair. Bloodplay, non-con. It was one of those stories that ended on a perfect note, and while I want MORE MORE MORE, I can't even honestly wish for that since it really ended where it should have.
Today I read The Nine Lives of Severus Snape by The Treacle Tart. Though Snape is the main character, Lupin is a strong second. Nine Lives pulled off something really hard to do: Though Lupin was still "only" a nice guy in it, he was *interesting*. He was kind and nice and quiet and all that stuff that's usually boring (in characters), but I found myself liking him anyway.
(At least one, but maybe both?, of these recs came by way of
ntamara's LJ.)
