My brain is plotting against me. There can be no other explanation than this.

I can handle normal nightmares (Aie! Monster chasing me! Falling! Doom and gloom!), but my brain has come up with something new: Forcing me to do bad things. It started with those "I'm eating meat by mistake! I forgot! I just ate it without thinking!" dreams, but they've taken a turn for the worse:

Last night I had a dream that my cat had bubble wrap and thick clear plastic tape wrapped all around her head. Of course she couldn't breathe. So what did I do? I was tired, so I went to sleep for a while. My cat was dying, and I decided to sleep?!? Gods above, I feel like a monster just typing that out. So in my dream, eventually I woke up from my nap, and I remembered to take the stuff off her head. Gods, my cat's fur was all wet from her breath being caught in it, and she just fell over and closed her eyes. Her mouth was open and she was gasping for breath.

I would never, ever do that! I'd hurt someone even if they just looked at her meanly! I get the feeling that this is what insanity could be like: Some part of your brain making you do terrible things you'd not do if you were yourself.

LJ's spellchecker annoys me enough that I finally filed a support call on it:

First, it is marking as misspelled some real words. Two examples: 'towards' and 'okay'.

Second, should it really catch 'LJ' as a misspelling? Yes, that is not a real word, but not only do people often use it when writing about this site, it's in the custom tags!

Third, when using a contraction (won't, don't), it's checking either side of the ' and calling those misspellings. So in the case of "wouldn't", it's saying I have a misspelled word "wouldn".

The reply was annoyingly unhelpful:

Unfortunately, LiveJournal does not maintain its own dictionary; it uses a popular open-source program, and it's not possible for LiveJournal to customize the dictionary or correct any of the problems that you've noted. If you want, you can compose your entries in a word processor with spell checking capabilities, and then cut and paste them.

Well thanks.

Unless work sucks so badly that I can't stand to see people after it (a possibility, as cow orker is off today), I might go to buy a new computer tonight. One of my big worries before buying one was how the heck I'd set up my cable modem on the new machine. What would I need to install? What would I need to do? So I sent Comcast an email last night, and they said all I'd need to do is plug the modem in to the new computer... I swear that when a man came out to set it up the first time he installed something from a disk, but hopefully I'm just misremembering.
