thistlechaserI've mentioned Animal Crossing a number of times here before, but I've never really gone into much detail on it. You play a human character who moves into a village of animal. You control only yourself, the game runs all the other characters. The animal villagers can have many different personality types, from 'friendly female' to 'sports fan male' to 'snotty female' to 'good buddy male', and lots of others. You talk to your villagers daily and get news, sell items, sometimes are given gifts or tasks to do, and other stuff. The villagers also interact with each other, and can like or hate each other (you have no control over this).
I was very amused when a wolf character (Fang) moved into my town (Canada), and placed his house just a couple steps from a dog character (Butch). Both were 'grumpy male' personality types, so I figured they'd hate each other. Oh, but it turned out to be anything but that!
Heh heh heh. The two happily talked to each other many times, then the night of the harvest moon (an in-game holiday, everyone could gather at the lake and watch it), the two went to the event together. They stood next to each other and, well, it was cute.
(The images are a little dark because it was nighttime in the game. Fang is the grey wolf with pointy ears, and Butch looks like a rottweiler.)
Aww! The things two canines in love will do for each other!
They exchanged cute little insults. Isn't that sweet?
And though Butch wanted to leave, he stayed for his Fang.
The next morning it was raining, and I encountered Fang in front of a certain brown and black dog's house.
It's really a fun game, especially if you're not into hacking and slashing and fast-paced jumping-all-around games. I've been playing it for almost a full year now, on an almost daily basis, and I'm not bored with it. It's relaxing and enjoyable and a great way to de-stress.
