thistlechaserThere's an airbase (not an airport and I don't think just an airstrip) near my home. I think maybe NASA owns it, but I could be wrong. I drive by it now and then, but never went in and checked it out (I think probably it's military or government, so you can't, so I never tried). Anyway, for some odd reason sometimes fighter jets fly into and out of it, passing over my apartment to do so. There's nothing that settles my cat more than an ear-splitting screaming/screeching/howling coming from overhead as well as all around us. Excuse me while I try to get her out from under the bed...
Note to self: White chocolate goes very poorly with Diet Coke. I like normal chocolate fine with it, but white just doesn't work at all with it. Blech.
I love LJ. Sometimes it makes me feel like less of a freak. There's actually another vegetarian who doesn't really like vegetables. Okay, maybe I'm still a freak, but at least I'm not a unique one!
On that note, I forgot I bought some sugar snap beans (I think that was the name of them) to try. Left them in a plastic bag on the counter for a week. Oops.
I know the weekend isn't over yet, but here are the new (and sort of new) things I watched:
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Muchly on Furry_Butt's recommendation. I watched 5 of the 18 eps I have downloaded. While I didn't hate it, I didn't like it too much either. My biggest issue with it is that the scientists invented these massive (hundreds of feet tall) robots to protect the earth from aliens/monsters/whatever those things are, but these robots have to be plugged in. That's right, they have extension cords. Yeah, okay...
Mulan - I forgot how much I loved this movie! In my top three Disney movies, for sure. Loved the 'I'll Make a Man Out of You' song. Made some screen shots (of half-naked muscleman, mmm), but they didn't come out well so I'm not going to post them. Want to watch movie again soon. Very soon.
Blind Date's Freaks and Weirdos - The second of the three releases from Blind Date that you had to pay to see. Made me even more scared of the other people out there in the world.
Juuni Kokki (Shadow of the Moon, Sea of the Shadow) - A couple more eps of this. Easily my favorite anime (not counting movies like Spirited Away and such). The music is beautiful, the voices (in Japanese) are great, and I love the story.
YuuGiOu - Yu Gi Oh in Japanese, no subbing or dubbing or anything. Even though I couldn't understand more than a word or two, it was way cool. As ever, our version of it looks totally mangled. Sucks to be us.
