OoP: Thoughts so far
Jun. 21st, 2003 03:29 pmJust a few quick thoughts on things so far:
1) Harry's flight from Dursleys. Perhaps I've read too many fics, but my eyebrows raised at the need to carry the trunk and cage in a harness under a broom. Why not just shrink it with a charm and stick it into a pocket?
2) Percy, woo! I like the change he's making. I mean, he's becoming bad, but that's good! Making him a whole lot more interesting as a character.
3) Eek! Again, 'Perhaps I've read too many fics, but...' the change in courtrooms made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. And that Mr. Weasley left him there? Didn't even go in with him? I'm sitting here yelling, 'No! It's a trap! Don't you remember the portkey in IYAP? Arg!'.
Heehee.
As much as I'm enjoying the book, I stand by my statement that fics are better. IYAP, AWS, and others have grabbed me more and kept me reading more than OoP. While I did carry the book with me and read while microwaving lunch, it's almost more because of a sense of duty (and wanting to learn Snape stuff) than because I'm driven to seeing where she's going with the story.
Oh! And that the bad guys are after a weapon? Why am I so so so feeling it's Harry? Heehee. Love it when the real book follows fics. :)
Back to reading! It's taken me three hours to read a measly 130 pages, so at this rate it'll take me 18 hours to finish... assuming my eyes hold out. Darned me for losing my reading glasses.

Yes, yes! I'll be very interested in seeing what you have to say. I can't wait to finish the book, so I can read all the comments and fan-feedbacks.
Back to reading!
