Where'd the weekend go?
Jun. 22nd, 2003 10:32 pmA moment ago I looked at the clock. "Hmm, 10 PM. Feels about right." Then I noticed the day and blinked. Sunday? Sunday? Where'd the whole weekend go?

Oh.

In all the brouhaha over The Book, I almost missed an anniversary! Four years ago, at sometime around 3 AM on June 21st, my plane landed in California. Just two weeks before, I decided to move across the country. And then here I was! In San Francisco, a city I had never been in before, the middle of the night (even though my biological clock was claiming it was now 6 AM, awake through the whole night before). I needed to lug all my worldly possessions (two overpacked bags and my cat) through the airport, trying to find the car rental place. Then I drove around the airport for almost an hour (they were doing construction and I couldn't find the way out), then I drove down 101, trying not to fall asleep, for two hours. Once I was in the right town, I needed to find the apartment that I had been to only once before.
But I did it! New place, new job, new mostly everything. Exciting, wild, scary, wonderful times.
And now I've been here for four years. My feet are itching again, but only very slightly. I really like it here. The weather could hardly be more perfect. The people are cool and different. I could use a new job, but that'll come in time. Tomorrow may be Monday, and I may have to go to the dentist (eek eek), but I'm still feeling pretty darned good.
I really, really like Moody. Someone should slash him with someone (Snape? Some DE?). He could use some sex, and I bet it'd come out as great, violent, hot stuff. (Stop squicking, Chia! "Old" people need sex, too! :) )
I was sad to see how JKR handled Peter's (tiny little) role. Gods, can you make him any less likeable?
Lovegood keeps popping back into my head. I felt sorry about people taking her stuff, but I loved how she said it always made its way back. I'll be interested in reading fics about her, but I won't be seeking out slash involving her. She seems almost too innocent for it.
The last two chapters of Bittersweet Potion rocked my socks. I've said it before but I'll say it again: Harry as a cat with human Snape is just *perfect*. I love them together that way. It's so sweet and so touching and Snape deserves some happiness and comfort.

Date: 2003-06-23 07:41 am (UTC)Yes. Yes. I loved Moody all throughout the last book - well, ur, until Rowling Destroyed him at the end. I was glad to see him back and just as great as ever, though. He has that great growly voice, though I can't help but see a bit of a connection between him and Tonks. The age gap might be a bit much, but...
