It was a dark and stormy nigh-- eh, day
Nov. 30th, 2003 02:58 pmIt's raining out, a rare-as-heck event around here. It's dark and cold and very un-California-y.
I spent a number of hours today dumping stuff onto CDs to free up some harddrive space. The whole DNAngel series plus three full-length movies (American Beauty, The Cat Returns, and Spirited Away), which made almost no difference. Sucks to be me! I need to buy more CDs so I can move more stuff off the hard drive.
For those who care, I believe I was incorrect on my earlier reporting of DNAngel: The light/golden angel was not named Light, I must have assumed that because the dark angel was named Dark. In the last two eps, the light angel got a "real" name. Though it had an interesting ending, I'm sad that series is over...
Anime is very different than American TV shows in a number of ways, but the only bad difference (in my opinion) is that series end just way too soon. DNAngel had only 24 eps in its whole run -- enough to tell the story, but I want more more more! I'm not ready to leave that world behind yet!
I'm vaguely pondering taking Japanese classes. This is *not* so I can understand anime without reading the subtitles, just because it's such a beautiful sounding language. I hadn't realized it before I really started watching a lot of anime, but Japanese is easily the most beautiful of all languages I've ever heard. It's soft and so pretty and complex... and probably hard as hell to learn.
