Misses:
Escaflowne: The anime I liked before I even knew what anime was. I loved it many years ago, but I'm totally failing to get into it now. My second attempt to get caught up by the series, and my second failure. Why? The music is amazingly wonderful, the art style isn't horrible, and the story is pretty good (other than the fighting robots). All that, and I can't keep my eyes open through one ep. Bah.
Read or Die TV. Two words: Ditzy females. Gah. I didn't make it through a full ep before I had to turn it off. (Alas, I have 13 eps of it downloaded. Delete, delete, delete.)
Last Exile: Eh. There's nothing awful about it, but it's boring and failing to hook me. This is my second attempt to get into it, second failure. I'll probably give it one more chance before deleting.
Naruto Mentos Commercial: If you spot this available for downloading, skip it. It is nothing more than footage of the Lee/Gaara battle with the Mentos song played over it. A total waste.
And the success: PeaceMaker Kurogane! Yay! It started off really well: Great music, perfect art style, tres good-looking male characters, and as I watched the first ep and saw the story, I liked it even more. The rest of the series is downloading, though unfortunately it doesn't look hopeful that I'll get it all (#5 has no seeds or other downloaders. Stuck at 0/0).
However! (Here's the secret Japanese plan thing.) I think anime makers are attempting to confuse and befuddle us. Is this a man or a woman? Long hair, big eyes, little mouth? Now, if this character acted like this and did this, what would you say? Probably "female", right? Wrong! And I'm tired of being wrong about characters' genders! Whine, whine. I learned that whole "telling men and women apart" trick back when I was a toddler; it's very disconcerting to be regressing back to looking at a figure and not being able to say 'man' or 'woman'. You tricky, tricky Japanese people! I'm onto your plan to confuse me!
