In this order: Cowboy reality TV, medical crap, midday meals.

(Before the cowboys: I've had a Tivo for three years now, and I've mentioned it only twice before today (one was yesterday) so I'm amazed to be talking about it again so soon.)

Never before has my smart little Tivo found me a show that I never, ever heard even a peep about, but once I watched it I totally loved it. Today it accomplished that task!

I get a whole lot of channels, and some (many) I've never even watched once. The Country Music Channel (Country Music Network?) was one of them. I hate country music, so why the heck would I watch a TV channel about it? Well, Tivo knew better! There's a show called Cowboy U which takes a dozen "city folk" and dumps them into the middle of the country. It's a reality show, so they need to learn all about riding and "cowboy work", and each week someone gets kicked off the show.

I love horses and I like reality TV, so this is a great show for me! Add on top of that that all the folks left now are pretty darned cute, and I'm extra-happy! MMMMM, cute guys in dusters, black cowboy hats, and boots. MMMMMMMM. (The ep I saw seemed to be about mid-season, so I don't know what the people who were removed were like. Maybe all the normal looking folks got removed already.)

The horses were great to see, too. And (of course) everyone was riding Western! (Hate Eastern style, hate it.) I'll be following this show from now on.

The doctor got back to me about my bloodwork from Friday... yay, two new doctor appointments...

She gave me a lot of info over the phone. I tried to write down as much as I could, but I suspect I missed a lot.

Cholesterol has two types, good and bad. On the good kind (HDL) you want to be within 40-60. I was at 38. The doctor said the way to improve this was through exercise, so I'm covered on that.

Bad cholesterol (LDL?) should be 130 or under, and mine was 130 on the nose. She didn't say if exercise would help that, but I'd think maybe?

Glucose (which I would guess would be important to see if I had diabetes? I'm not sure if it's important for anything else). There were two tests for this, one was a "snapshot" of just what was happening at that moment, and the other tracked through three (days? I think she said? Not weeks/months?). I didn't seem to write down the snapshot one, but I think it wasn't good (she asked me if I had forgotten to fast before the blood-taking, and I had not forgotten). The longer one was supposed to be 6.3 (or less? more?), and mine was 6.3 exactly.

So I wouldn't think anything was bad, though neither was anything good. However, she made an appointment to come in and talk to her about the results, so either there's something she didn't tell me over the phone, or something looks worse than I think it is. (Or maybe because of the chest pains and the cholesterol stuff is borderline, she'll want to put me on drugs anyway?)

So I have to go in and talk to her about the results on Monday, and then on Friday next week I get to do a treadmill test. Yay. (This one is sucky because they wanted to see me at 11 AM. Hello middle of the workday!)

Lastly (and stupidly) I skipped lunch today. Wasn't hungry at lunchtime, didn't think I'd get hungry later. Bah. Luckily I have an apple on my desk. Oh, and a Luna bar, too! Yay Luna, best protein bars out there. Yummy.

Edited to add: Can you believe that this is Japanese graffiti? Work of art...
