I used the word 'scrounge' today. I don't think I've even heard it, let alone used it myself, in years. It's such a cool word! It sounds just like what it is. Ssssccrrrounge. People come by and scrounge up stuff. So cool! I need to use it more often.

I cannot believe that people actually type like this:

"As soon as I finished reain dis email, I responded at 1ce, dey hav no right 2 do dis, I was super pissed 2 find out dat Kikakai lost her whole account! I barely started readin her stories, & I've got 2 say, her stories were d 1 of d best! & now Wolf Blossom's stry, "Black Wolf Pack" has also been deleted! I doubt dat dere was good reasonin 2 dat! PLZ sign dis! Imagine if it happened 2 u? What would u feel? I can't respond 4 u ppl, but I know I'd b super pissed 2 find out dat all my hard work got deleted!"

I thought it had to be a joke at first, but it's in a "serious" email, so I suppose not. The funny thing is, this person is protesting the deletion of stories off ff.net. ff.net! Ha! The home to crappy writers just like that (and a couple good people, but mostly crappy).

Could you imagine being this person's English teacher?

Kitty update: She seemed better last night, and came to greet me at the door when I got home! Yay! Plus she spent the entire evening (like four hours!) sleeping on my desk next to (and sometimes on) my keyboard. :) It seemed like she was attached to my arm for most of that time! Yay better feeling kitties!

FFXI: Woo! Even though I did no leveling up last night, it was a *very* good night. I logged on to find the moon was perfect for fishing! (It only happens for a couple hours every three days, and since work and sleeping take up more than two-thirds of every day, it's not common for me to be online when the moon is right.) So I fished and fished and fished! I started at 16.2-ish at 5:30, and by 10 PM I crossed the 18 line! (18.1, to be exact. My last skill-up was a .2.) WOO!

Since I hadn't cooked all day (because I need to take the test), this turned out perfect! The test for cooking and fishing are in the same city, so I could kill two birds with one stone! I got a ride most of the way with one of our LS folks (yay the teleport spells! I can't wait to get them as well), then had to run the rest of the way. As usual, I was more skittish than I probably needed to be. The run was long, but I only saw two bad monsters (ones that will come after you and attack you without being attacked first) the whole time. One of those times the monster was being killed by other people, and the other I waited, watching it and those same other people, and eventually they went and killed it. I *probably* could have killed it (it checked at 'EP', but I find those checks tend not to be accurate to me, especially when checking goblins), but better safe than sorry!

Once the monsters were out of the way, I slowly made my way through the bad area (sticking to walls and indents and checking wide areas before running through them, etc), and into the lower level place near the city. I got into the city itself at 11 PM last night, which unfortunately meant I needed to log off instead of taking the tests.

Tonight I'm going to do the tests, maybe fish within the city (I need to check my FAQs and see what's what. I know there's a place to fish outside of Windy, but I'm not sure if it's where I want to be right now.) Once I'm ready to go home to Sandy, I'm going to take the death express back.

Ooh! Oooh! One cool thing happened during fishing last night! A new fisher (but not a new player, she had all the fishing clothing bought), saw how much I was catching and asked me questions. :) I got to teach her about everything fishing-related that I knew! Days of the week, times, moons, she wanted to know about rods, I told her about the anti-bot code, everything! It was so nice to be able to pass on the stuff I was told and I learned from researching. :) She (level 2 fishing) also ooo'ed and ahhh'ed over my "high" level. Hee. (It's nice talking to other fishers about this stuff -- they know how many hours it takes to level up in fishing!)

All in all, it couldn't have been a better night on FFXI!

A little info for people who don't play:

Cooking and fishing are two of the "crafts" available (extra things to do and ways to make money). The others are smithing (you actually mine ores!), leatherworking, bone-crafting, woodworking (really chop wood out in the forests!), alchemy... and I might be forgetting one.

Death express: When you die, instead of 'game over', you get sent to wherever your homepoint is. If you're over level 4, you lose 10% of your XP needed to the next level. So in cases like this, where I'm going to Windy for just a short time, I leave my home set in Sandy and then when I want to go back I change jobs to something I'm level 1 in and let myself get killed. Poof! I go back home to Sandy without having to buy a teleport spell and run through bad areas! (I'm not sure if I came up with the name or I heard it somewhere -- I suspect the latter. I've also heard it called "ghetto warp" (Warp being a spell that sends you home), but I didn't like that name for it.)

Jobs: Like classes elsewhere (warrior, thief, white mage, etc). The rocking thing about FFXI is that you don't pick just one and stick with it. You can try everything! (All jobs start at level one, you need to level each one up on its own.) Plus, when you get to level 18, you can quest to get the ability to have a subjob (which basically means you can use (but not level) two jobs at once). When you get higher level, you can also open up advance jobs, like beastmaster and ninja and lots of others.
