Okay, I cheated. I got "geek", but the hippy sheep is so cute I had to snatch it!
On a more serious (and yet still hippy-related) note, the <A HREF="http://www.hafci.org>Haight Ashbury Free Clinics</A> system needs help. (Forgive their ugly site design. I hope they're spending their time on healing people and made site design secondary!) For more than 40 years, they have been treating the homeless and those who have jobs and no medical insurance. They were keeping their heads above water, until they got a CFO who robbed the clincs blind. He was convicted, but the money is gone.
While <A HREF="http://www.hafci.org>Haight Ashbury Free Clinics</A> were started for the "hippies", from day one they also treated homeless and anyone else without medical insurance. (For those who are unfamiliar with the time/area, Haight Ashbury is a section of San Francisco, one popular with the young people of the sixties.)

I heard the founders and some of the current doctors talking on the radio, and it made me want to cry. Such wonderful people! Both now and back in the sixties when it first opened! Doctors, nurses, and office workers, all there to help out those who can't help themselves.
More and more often, I find myself wishing I had been born a little earlier. What an amazing time the sixties must have been! While I'm not interested in the drug side of things, the <I>energy</I> of the time must have been amazing! So many people who thought just by being good and doing good things and thinking good thoughts that they could change the world. I wish we hadn't lost that. Especially in the last few years, it feels like nothing but negative energy rules. War, hatred, and countries acting like schoolyard bullies. <I>Sigh.</I> We need a few more brightly colored flowers pasted to the sides of our cars, and to throw a few more peace signs at each other. Beads are nice, too! Who can argue with love beads?
(For some reason, it feels like "Sixties" should have been capitalized. Maybe it's a proper noun? I wasn't sure, so I left it lower case.)

"He's been a world-class polarizer. I don't know if I can stomach four more years with him as president. He misled us into the war in Iraq and has mismanaged everything since."
