I thought of [livejournal.com profile] tersa mostly when I noticed me doing this: Never before have I admired *costumes* in a movie, but in this one I did. I must have seen other movies set in this period, but this was the first time I looked at the dresses and uniforms and such and went 'Wow, that's so cool!'. And I loved Jack's costume to death.

Things like the buildings, too. And the ships! The ships! I loved the ships. And the battles between the ships were so cool, too. And that female pirate chick! Oh, I loved her. (Though not enough to recall her name...)

And tell me, was that Hagrid's actor as one of the pirates loyal to Jack? Sounded just like him, and I thought the eyes matched.

Anamaria's the name of the female pirate. (I wouldn't have remembered it myself, but I'm lucky enough to be beta-ing a rollicking good PotC story that will eventually feature her.)

I loved the costumes, too. Hell, I loved the whole thing. Glad you had a good time, but I'm sorry to hear about the obnoxious little girlies. Dunno how I lucked out of that situation, since I certainly tempted the gods by attending a weekend matinee.

I love your icon even more now. :)

Do you have some links to any good fics? I'm not looking for any special characters, though slash over het would be good. (But I'll read anything well-written!)

The only good one I've seen up so far is "Hurricane Jack", which you can find here:

It's slash, too, which is a nice bonus. (The less of Elizabeth there is in these things, the better, as far as I'm concerned.)

I'm a costumer, I look at costumes all the time. And yes, these were exceptionally pretty (if not historically accurate) ones. But I spent most of the movie fascinated by the beads in Jack's hair ...

Funny story: so I'm watching the first HP movie at a film festival last summer, outdoors under the stars, with a bunch of friends. And we're chatting most of the way through the movie, as we've all seen in a gazillion times. And then up comes the Quidditch scene, where Hermione is going to set fire to Snape's robes. Everyone else is going "Go Hermione, you go girl!" I'm saying: "Oh my Lord! Look at the BUTTONS on that man's coat!"

Very sad, being a costumer and watching period movies ... Take it from me, you don't want to go down that dark path...

The dice were kind of odd, but I loved the other beads.

Hee! That must have been something else. :)

No, it wasn't. I suspect they may adopting (or even have RL) the same accent, which would probably throw you. :)

Yeah, I checked imdb after the post, and was really surprised to see it wasn't the same person. Accent sounded exactly the same!
