It's the end of the world as we know it...
Aug. 8th, 2003 08:22 amNothing like being awakened by fighter jets buzzing your apartment. Some people say they scream, but to me it sounds more like a painfully loud whistle (though sometimes it shifts towards a scream, yeah). Donno what's happening, if anything, but they've been flying over work and home for more than an hour now.
Oh let me tell you how thrilled my cat is to listen to what sounds like giant whistling/screaming monsters sprinting at our apartment! She'll attack small electronic things that make noise (hair blower, blender, and years ago my mother's Epilady), she sneaks up on them and bat-bat-bats them with her paw, but these jet planes are a little too big for her.
Heck, they're a little too big for me, too.
TV news!
* Know I've still not seen the last season of Buffy? Oddly, I'm really not driven to correcting that. I *liked* the series, but I was more of a "catch it when it's on, otherwise eh" type of fan.
* Stargate SG1, on the other hand, I'm loving. Loving, loving, loving. I usually make an effort to catch it on the weekend, but I should really set Tivo to fetch the eps for me. There's a silly Stargate cartoon on Sunday mornings. It really sucks (animations and storylines), but I've been watching it and it's sort of growing on me.
I wish my Tivo acted better, it really has changing-channels issues. I should make one of those foil "tents" to try to keep the signals between those little arms and the front of the unit...

Date: 2003-08-10 12:25 am (UTC)If you don't want to wrap foil over the cable box, there is another way, open the case so you can get at the stuff under the front (just above the colored lights) and put something over the transmitter (like an LED but it doesn't produce visible light. There are instructions for this somewhere, try tivocommunity.com first.
The problem seems to be that the transmitter on the front sends the same exact signal as the other transmitter, only the one from the front of the tivo is bouncing off the wall and back so they are a bit out of sync.
