Zoom! (FFXI)

thistlechaserHa ha, almost forgot to post tonight, so here's a quickie!
As per usual, BLUed lots today. Got three new spells! Most I ever got in one day had been two. Got Chaotic Eye (coeurl), Sound Blast (cocka), and Smite of Rage (weapon). The first two were kind of interesting: Another BLU showed up and started to kill "my" coeurls, so I asked if he wanted to team up. (There are only 5-6 cats in that area, really just enough for one person.) Turned out he was JP so we had a bit of a challenge communicating, but it worked out. I got Eye pretty quickly and I didn't want to just drop the party and leave, so I stuck around and cured him till he got it (four or so fights later). He asked me if I had Sound Blast yet, so yay! We went off to do that! (He was seven or eight levels above me and totally killed my XP, but I was after the abilities more than the XP.) He got Sound Blast right away and tried to explain that I was too low level to get it (I wasn't, but hey, whatever). So he left, I called out my NPC, and I got it next fight. :P Darned cockas were T+ and it was a hard fight, so I'm glad I got it right away.
I had only one death today (darned coeurl used Blaster and then silenced me -- I've never encountered a paralyze as strong as Blaster!) and even though it was only EM+ and at 10% of its life, it took me down from 50% and offed me. :( But Aurian came out and raised me, so yay!
Smite of Rage was amazingly easy -- got it off my first Weapon in the Canyon!
After that I was a slacker and went to the Jungles to get a party. I'd bitch about how much they all sucked (PLD with no shield and never used his MP, Taru NIN who never once voked, a WAR and two SAMs with no ranged weapons, a MNK* who both tanked and pulled by hitting things...) but it was "free" XP -- all I had to do was stand there and swing my sword, as opposed to doing everything soloing involves. Ended the night at 27.
Seriously annoyed that I missed a Besieged (apparently it happened while I was AFK making dinner, grrr), I went and hung out in Al Newcity. Another one happened soon after! Yay! I used Diaga a lot! I was using a dagger instead of my GS, so I was able to attack a lot of monsters! I would get more than the sucky 62 XP I got last time! ...or not. I got 16 XP. Gods above, I thought the minimum you could get just by being there was 60! Sheesh. Back to the GS for me. If damage counts, I suppose I could make more with one swing than I can using a dagger the whole time...
Bah, I failed at the whole "quick post" thing. Tomorrow is the last NIN static! Should hit 37 and plenty of buffer! No clue what I'll do with the rest of the day after that...
* Yes, MNKs can tank and this one tanked just fine, but the problem was he was pulling mandies by punching them, so he'd arrive back at camp half-dead and tank from there.
