Now that they're distracted, FFXI people:
First off, I meant to poke Draque and Ead on game to see if they're even interested in this. I failed to do that, thus this may all be moot! My idea was: a sort of Assault-static thingie. If we do assaults we can get points for spiffy armor and stuff, but just as important: by beating assaults you get higher rank. You can buy more things with your IP, etc. If I understand it correctly, you need to beat all assaults once to "pass" a ToA mission, then beat the next level of all assaults to "pass" the next mission. Good reason to do it!
So if Draque and Ead are interested (Des and Aurian aleady said they are), shall we try this? But we need to settle many things first!
1) One of the larger things: Time. Des and I bounced the idea of replacing our NPC static with this. That would be at 3 PM PST/6 PM EST on Sundays. Is that do-able for all? And do you mind dropping the NPC static for now, Ead? If the answer to either question is "no", when shall we do this?
2) Most of us have only one staging point, so we'd have to walk to most of these. And, while I don't mind organizing the off-game part of this, we do NOT NOT NOT NOT want to try to follow me to anything. I still get lost in Ronf! So we'd need someone to be the navigator.
3) Details on each assault: I've been looking through this Alla thead (lol) as well as Nyiri's CTY journal. A lot of them don't look too bad and even look fun.
I think once we get the staging points this could be a fun, minimally-stressy thing to do. I don't mind doing the research on the assaults we want to try, so long as everyone wants to do this.
4) If we wanted, we could bring along a 6th person. However, if I understand it correctly, we can do the same thing with 5? I have no idea if it's easier if you do it with 5 or not... If we want a 6th, then what job? Ideas on who?
I need to locate a better guide than the Alla one. I'm pretty sure we can do all of them totally uncapped, which means working with our main jobs. (NIN, SMN, RDM, DRG, DRK.)
So, Draque and Ead, interested?
Everyone: Time? Who wants to be the map reader? Do we want/need a sixth?
All other folks: Feel free to pipe up and correct me on anything!
Also: Aurian, Ead, Draque: Check Cala's post on the FI boards. I'm thinking I'll jump in on that. While CoP sucks, wouldn't it be nice to get it done and out of the way? I don't care about Sea, but it sort of bugs me to have CoP be hanging that way.
