So if you've been keeping up with my LJ, you know I have a speedy new computer with more memory than I know what to do with. While looking for interesting things to download, I decided to try some anime, because as we all know, only the best things come from Japan! *cough*orange peels*cough* However, being new to this whole Japanese animation thing, I took recommendations from other people on what to check out. I saw some good stuff, and I saw some... well, Azumanga Daioh.

You are dear to me because I want to embrace you.

Azumanga Daioh is a contradiction. While the main part of the episode is just boring as hell, the opening animation/theme song lyrics are just... my god. If, perhaps, you smoked crack for three years, then drilled multiple holes into your head, then had sex with a goat and ate your sibling for dinner, then this might make sense to you. However, even then I doubt it.

Okay, I'm going to give you a short list of animes that I like, then.

"Yami no Matsuei"
"Kizuna"
"Zetsuai"
"Gravitation"
"Fake"

Those are mostly yaoi... They're some of the most famous yaoi animes out there, there're definitely more, but hey, you have to start somewhere, right? *g*

Then you have animes like :

"Fushigi Yugi"
"X"
"Mononoke Hime"
"Please Save my Earth"

I don't know how many of these you can find on-line, but I would say quite a lot *g* The list could go for a *long* time, but hey, you have to start somewhere, and after all, it'd better for you to check them out to see if you think they could appeal to you first *g*

I think most fans of Azumanga Daioh have been anime fans for years and thus find it interesting. My computer is too slow to play movie files at the quality released nowadays so I'll never know if I'd "get it". Those screencaps are seriously entertaining, though.

If you want recs, two I'd make right off the bat are Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, because I've lost interest in anime lately (perhaps if I could afford it I wouldn't have!) but I still love those two series.
