I finished eating lunch about 20 minutes ago. I am now starving.

Something is very wrong with this picture.

Stupid salads. I'm starting to feel like a cow or a deer or a horse or something, gnawing away on a mouthful of greens. For some reason, that the greens in this salad had stems and stuff still attached made it worse. Felt like I was grazing out in the woods.

Bah. Hungry. Four and a half hours left of work.

Going to scrounge in the company kitchen and see if there's any fruit left from this morning...

...Yay! Two apples and some grapes. I won't have to start eating co-workers after all.

Thank you for reading this pointless post. :)

Do you like nuts? Having a can of almonds or a jar of peanuts at your desk might help at times like these. Protein, some "staying power" fat, etc.

And hey- does your company do "fruit day" too? My husband's does- very handy!

Actually, we get fruit every single morning (other than Friday, when we get donuts and bread-y things). In the past, I sort of eh'ed the daily fruit thing, but now I could kiss people. Handy as heck!

Nuts are a good idea. I have some at home, I should bring them into work.

Thanks!

Just wanted to let you know that you were right, nuts did the trick! I got some from the vending machine, and now I feel less likely to rip limbs of random people who pass by my desk.

Mmmm, limbs.

Nuts are less messy than limbs- and besides, you might snag one of Sir Fartalot's limbs by mistake, and think what a bad taste that would leave in your mouth! :)

Just the very thought makes me feel the need to scrub my tongue!

Now, now. A strict vegetarian diet does not include cow-orkers.

Aw, man! Now I need to rethink this whole thing...

...that or just keep a container of peanuts on my desk. Really, it's a hard choice.

yes nuts are good. Personally i have to recommend cashews, those are my favorite to eat plain. For variety you could also buy/make a trail mix to keep handy. There are also some healthy snack bars that are full of vitamins and protien you might want to try which if you like are handy to keep around for when you can't find a decent lunch. Personally I like "Clif Bars" (esp the Peanut Butter, chocolate chip, and the autumn special pumpkin and apple flavor ones; Bugland likes the mint ones and cookies-n-cream which I can't stand), although there are some other brands too. And there are also the health/protien drinks. Again there's several brands, the one I really like is Odwalla. I do NOT like their protien shake (chalky) but they have a "vanilla-almond" which is essentially a protien shake with added flavour and THAT one I think is good. Their smoothies aren't protien drinks but full of vitamins and really good IMHO- blackberry, mango tango, strawberry-banana etc..

The odwalla stuff needs to be refridgerated, so that only works if you have a fridge. Snack bars though and trail mixes and soem other protien drink brands can be kept in a draw OK.

Oh and some grocery stores (aroudn here at least) carry these brands, but in soem areas you need to go to a speciality or health-food store. You mentioned Trader Joes I think before- they should carry all the brands I mentioned above.

Mmm, cashews are my favorites as well. I've tried Odwalla twice, and one flavor I loved and one I hated. The Cliff bars are a great idea though, as I can stash those in my desk!

Thanks (again) for lots of info!
