WoW GMs rock my socks
Aug. 23rd, 2009 10:20 pmAfter more than five years of playing FFXI, it's still a boggling experience to encounter GMs who bend over backwards to help you.
I ran into a bug (because I made a mistake) that could have cost me two weeks of work. As I may have mentioned, I've been PvPing. I needed 8,600-something honor points to buy the shoulders I wanted. Finally I got it! I flew off to the AB vendor -- the vendor of the battleground I've been doing for 22 levels now. Bought the shoulders.
naikitty pointed out that there were better shoulders in Org.
Buh?
Why would the battleground's vendor not only have worse shoulders, but be selling them for more than the vendor in Org? Oh well, scratching my head, I took advantage of WoW's wonderful return policy. (You get a few hours to return something like the shoulders to a vendor for a full refund.)
Problem was, I had taken marks of honor out of my mail. (I hit cap weeks ago, so they mail you the extra ones...which expire in 24 hours. So, since I lose so many of them, I was quick to take as many out of my mail as I could hold. So, when I tried to return the shoulders, it couldn't because I was already at the cap for marks. (The game should have just mailed me the extra marks and refunded the honor points, but I don't blame them for not having that in place -- how often could this situation come up?)
I filed a GM call and watched the countdown to refund the item. Hit the time limit, no reply. Hit bedtime, no reply. Logged on next morning, got a reply! The most helpful GM ever. Not only did he help me, he was not rushed about it! At best on FFXI you'd get a couple words "Hello thief Jack!" or "Hello Bastokian Bob!" or whatever. This guy greeted me and asked how I was doing. As an automatic polite reply, I asked how he was doing back. He explained that he just got on shift and was sleepy and so was drinking his coffee and offered me some. o.O He replaced the shoulders for me and mailed me the extra marks and then kept on chatting.
Not only was he friendly and helpful, I could tell he actually played the game. (How many stories are there about FFXI GMs who are utterly clueless about the game?)
First the juice, now GMs. I'm just full of positive reviews today! And all comments will be replied to tomorrow, I had a busy weekend this weekend! (The only downside about PvPing is that I'm totally unable to multitask during it. TV? Okay, that's fine, but working in another window? No way.) Hit 41.5 on Rogue (so close to 51!), and got oodles of good RP! Eee!
