Rice is good, rice is great, I ate all the rice on my plate!

Okay, well, not exactly. First off, I ate out of a little carton instead of off a plate, and second I didn't finish it all... but it was good! Our supermarket has a "Chinese counter" (like a deli counter) and you can get (surprise!) Chinese food from it. Pretty crappy quality, but their rice is fine. Got some for lunch. Added a little sweet and sour sauce. Mmmmm.

Assorted things I got under recommendation during my flying lunchtime trip:

Odwalla bars -- Recommended by... oops. [livejournal.com profile] devulgari recommended Oskari bars. Oh well. These are the protein kind, and they have like 10-12 grams of protein each (with not an overly bad amount of calories), so let's hope they taste good.

Edamame -- Suggested by a couple people. They came pre-shelled (vacuum-packed), so hopefully they'll still be fresh and good and all that.

"Banana squash" -- No clue how it got its name. They sold it in sections/chunks. Looked like it must have been *massive* when whole. Hopefully it'll taste good. (Picked up some brown sugar for this and other random things.) (Wow! So big it needs a hat!)

Yogurt.

"Naked juice", which alas has no naked people on the bottle. Some sort of protein (not proton, as I typoed) boost thingie. Hopefully it'll taste okay.

I failed to pick up any nuts, since I couldn't figure out some type to get. Pecans, walnuts, almonds, too many!

Cashews! Cashews are the best! Or Almonds. Almonds are second best. Cashews have got a lot of fat in them... but they're really, really tasty.

Also, sunflower seeds are really good. Try those yet?

Actually, I've never eaten a sunflower seed! I should try those. And yeah, cashews are yummy! I don't eat almonds often though, mostly just in chocolate.

Cashews and peanuts can both be used in stir fries. I prefer cashews, but they are admittedly more expensive.

Oh, I never thought about using them that way! I bet that tastes great.

Bah! That's no fun. But, like I said, I like them lightly salted, and usually the salt is sticking to the outer shell, and you get it with the beans while you're sucking them out of the pod...

Cashews are good. My fave. Party peanuts are also okay (I like them better than dry-roasted). If you can't decide what kind to get, there are cocktail mixes which have lots of nuts. :)

Oh, and I thought of another thing else to try, maybe: Jamba Juice. My favorite is their Orange Dream Machine, which is high in protein already. The protein boost can be hit and miss, but getting it will bump the protein up to almost 20g, I think. Plus, it tastes like an orange creamsicle. :)

Jamba Juice is sort of my back-up plan. The shakes have like twice the calories of a protein bar... though on the other hand, I bet they taste more than twice as good...
