Who forgot to give me a copy of the memo?
Sep. 24th, 2003 03:41 pmHow could I have missed for so long that Voldemort is actually a fascinating character? (Or is it more along the lines that canon Voldemort is boring and fanon Voldemort is really interesting?)

ntamara's Choosing Loyalties yesterday, and this Hallelujah series I'm reading today, I'm just totally enthralled with him! Charismatic, wonderfully evil, and so able to control people! Mmmmm.

Date: 2003-09-24 05:06 pm (UTC)He suffers from stereotypical villain syndrome, wherein he takes the hard route just to make sure his sinister plans are more grandiose, he exposits too much, and he sacrifices perfectly good evil plans in the name of killing Harry. It just seems like he's too irrationally paranoid and obsessed to make a really good supervillain!
I've been expanding my fanfic horizons of late, and I've been getting to like fanon Voldie a bit, though.
Sushi's "The Beast" is a pretty fascinating take on Voldemort being influenced by another personality.
I refused to actually get squidgey over Tom in Choosing Loyalties out of principle. I find the character interesting but something about any incarnation of Voldemort having sex makes me go ewwwwwww. But I read it anyway, this addiction is too strong. *weeps but continues reading anyway*
