The above quote was said by some idiot on the radio this morning. They did "on the street" interviews with random folks, and all the answers were either like that ("I know nothing about him, but he's a movie star so I bet he'll be great!") or idiots who thought they were being funny by doing his accent. My opinion of the general population drops lower and lower every day.
I'm really hoping there will be another recall to take him out of office, and then another recall to take that person out, and another one to take that person out. It would serve people right, and (while they would blame the Democrats), it would be all the Republicans' fault.
But I told myself last night that I wouldn't get mad about this today. It's over and done with. The idiots of California have their movie star in office. He has no experience, he has groped numerous women, but none of that counts because he's an actor.
Bah.

Tell me about it.

Date: 2003-10-08 03:11 pm (UTC)And the average Californian, so like the average American, the mythical T. C. Mits, when faced with no clear choice of a 'better' product will always go with name brand recognition. Name brand recognition in this case was the Goobernator. It's sad that in this case he seems to've been the least of a great many evils. Don't just look at him when you're considering the vote, any more than you look at any other politican. Look at who his council is, who his advisors are. If Arnie listens to his advisors and is a good little figurehead/media star, things shouldn't be too bad. He does have some old state's knowledge on his team spoon-feeding him.
It's a shame we don't have a Californian equivalent to Strom Thurmond to step up and into the office.
