[Help Staff] Chia snickers and thinks yogurt doesn't like you, Thistle.
[Help Staff] Dr. Thistle-Chaser yeahs sadly.

I'm having a depressed food... period. Sometimes I'm hungry, sometimes I'm not, but I can't deal with finding something to eat. Since it's 7:30, I decided to go to the fridge and get *something* to eat, anything, "you don't leave the fridge without food!". Yogurt seemed the easiest and most inoffensive, so I took a container back to my desk.

Upon prying the plastic lid off, the foil puffed right up like a balloon. Odd. I opened it, and air hissed out. Odder still. Wise people told me not to eat it, so I went back and got another one. (Mind you, they're not supposed to expire until the end of October, and they've spent their days in the fridge.)

Brought the second one back to my desk. The yogurt was surrounded by what looked like water. Those people food-wiser than me suggested that if I stirred it, it should be okay. Stirring was hard, as it was firmly chunky. Decided against eating it.

Have three more containers in the fridge, but eh. If I open another, I'll probably end up unleashing some boundless evil upon the world. Can't risk that, now can I?

*laughs* Okay, I meant "wiser than me", which, when it comes to food, admittedly isn't that hard! Boy that sentence has a lot of commas in it.

You were probably right not to eat the yogurt emitting excess gas. The water thing, however, is perfectly normal. Stirring being 'hard' makes me wonder, though. I just can't see yogurt being particularly hard to stir, even with some kind of atomic super-spoilage.

Well, it wasn't like I *couldn't* stir it, or that it made me grunt and groan to work the spoon through it (hush), but it was wrong, you know? Too resistant. So I skipped it.

Buy some cereal, Luna Bars, chips and salsa, popcorn, salad in a bag (Caesar's salad, esp!), a bunch of veggie frozen stuff and a bunch of apples. Silly Thistle Chaser.

It's not (totally) that I don't have food, I do have some (bars, popcorn, cereal, and more "complex" things -- things that would take effort to make), it's just more like ... I guess I don't want it. And it's not like I want something else (except grapes grapes grapes, been craving grapes for a week), I just wander into the kitchen, open all the doors and drawers, then wander back out without anything.

The food-selection part of my brain is acting like I'm full, even though I'm actually really hungry. It's strange and doesn't make sense.

Thank you! I try not to use it too often, so that it stays newer to people. (But I'm so tempted to make it my default icon!)

I probably wouldn't have worried about either. Most yogurt is sold with live cultures. Which means they're going to be emitting gas.

As for the 'water' in the second batch, it's whey. Perfectly normal in yogurt. I would go ahead and just pour it off, or feel free to mix it back in. The 'firmly chunky' consistency was a result of the whey separating out from the yogurt curd.
