Rarrr! Kill headaches dead!
Oct. 9th, 2003 08:22 amAbout an hour before my alarm went off, I was awakened by pounding pain in my head. No matter what position I took, it hurt like hell, so finally I got up. That's when the nausea kicked in. Wheeeee. I was seriously considering calling in sick, but I took time off on Monday to go to the eye doctor, and I had to take a little more time off on the coming Monday for a follow-up check, so I figured calling in would be a bit much.
Thinking it was maybe a sinus headache, I took a hot shower (steam = good). Didn't help. Went out to my desk and sat there and took aspirin and water. After a while, that took the edge off, but there was still great pain and icky stomach. Prodded through getting ready for work.
Took more aspirin before leaving, and while I'm not feeling totally better, I no longer desire to cut my head off and dump it into the trash.
Go me! (Or, okay: Go aspirin!)
Hm. Wonder where cow orker is. Hope she doesn't call in sick...
Edited to add: Odd side-effect of my lingering headache: Animated icons are making me want to (literally) fall over. I'm trying to read my flist, but I can't read anything with these icons flashing and flickering in the corner of my vision.
Oh, and cow orker arrived. While she's a half-hour late (and I was a half-hour early), I'm always so relieved that she hasn't called in sick, that I can't be mad.

Date: 2003-10-09 09:35 am (UTC)It's time for a new victim, O God of Headaches. Move along! In fact, I hear there's a big, vacant head at the White House that's just crying out for occupation. Go there!
(Hope you're feeling better soon!)

Date: 2003-10-09 10:19 am (UTC)And thanks! I'm a headache-y sort of person in general, but of late they've been even more frequent than usual.

Date: 2003-10-09 03:52 pm (UTC)If you are getting migraines, you should probably go to a doctor just to make sure there isn't anything seriously wrong. Also, that way if you do end up feeling bad enough to have to take a sick day, you have a note that explains it and keeps you from getting written up (if that's how it works where you are.)
Good luck with feeling better. I recommend Excedrin if you can take acetomimophen and aren't oversensitive to caffeine. It's sometimes the only thing that does anything for my headaches.
(Do you think whatever eye trouble you're having could have caused the headache?)

Date: 2003-10-09 07:23 pm (UTC)While I'm getting new contacts, the prescription is exactly the same, so I'd *think* that wasn't the cause of them... but since I'm going back on Monday for a checkup, I can ask then.
Thanks!
