No, not some awful (and cheap) de-meowing process at the vet. I ordered her a timed feeding bowl. For ages she's been driving me insane with meowing nonstop for an hour or more before it's time to feed her. Literally nonstop meowing, over and over, for more than an hour. Hopefully, by putting it on a timer, it'll make her stop associating me with the feeding process and might stop her from meowing.

Unless she starts meowing at it...

Admittedly I have a lot less patience for the meowing right now, because I'm in pain. It's really tricky dealing with painkillers, when I know I have to drive to work and function at work all day. Last night I was in pain most of the night, and ended up getting up at 3 AM, since it was too late to take another painkiller.

At least the weekend is coming. Her bowl should arrive tomorrow, and I can take pills whenever I need.

The only downside to the timed bowl is that she won't be eating out of the maze bowl anymore. This one, with the center circle blocked off, since she (and I) can't get the kibble out of it:

That was fun to watch, and it slowed her down nicely.

I'm doing the same thing, I thought I had broken P of it, but no. She is determined that the only way she will ever receive food is INCESSANT FUCKING SCREAMING.

It's not like Ellie has ever missed a single meal in her life...

Has the timer feeder worked for you yet?

I KNOW, like the number of times Penny has not been fed: ZERO. The number of times I wait until she is quietly sitting under my desk until I feed her: ALL OF THEM. And yet she remains convinced that before sitting under the desk quietly, she must spend an hour following me around the house meowing without cease, despite being ignored, squirted with the squirt bottle, locked in the laundry room, or accidentally stepped on. No, CLEARLY it is not the sitting quietly at the end that makes food appear, it is the full hour of whining beforehand.

So far she follows me around screaming and then runs full tilt for the timed feeder when she hears it go off, but I have only been doing it a few days, I'll check back in April and let you know.

I THOUGHT IT WAS ELLIE WHO ONLY DID THAT! I wait to feed her until she's quiet, but she meows and meows and meows for the whole hour before that. Then, when feeding time comes, she's quiet and I feed her. I SWEAR TO GOD, CAT.

I'm waiting for the package to arrive, hopefully today. I'll let you know how Ellie does, too.

Unless she starts meowing at it...

I confess, that crossed my mind :P

I'm sorry to read you're still in pain :( I hope the weekend will give you a chance to recuperate a bit, at least...

If she meows at a machine, I suppose it will be good for a laugh, if nothing else.

And thanks! I'm ready for this pain to end.
