So turns out I will have to temporarily move out. Apartment complex is paying to put me into a pet-friendly hotel, starting Monday night. Unfortunately there are still tons of issues, like that I can't bring my desktop computer (I'm trying to make an old laptop work), and I guess I'll be eating out every meal? That's going to be hell on the budget and my weight.

My kitchen is full of person-sized dehumidifiers and giant fans -- it's so loud, I can't even use my phone or watch anything online, and they have to run 24/7.

I'm trying to empty the kitchen to make room. Ellie discovered where her feeder went (no fans/dehumidifier in place yet) :

Dehumidifier, fans are just as big:

Yikes, what a pain!
If the hotel room has a small fridge, you can probably ask housekeeping to empty it so it can be used for your own groceries. Even if you can't cook, you can still make sandwiches or keep snacks on hand. Heat water in the coffee maker for dehydrated soups or instant oatmeal. You should not have to eat out every meal.

And hello Ellie! It has been a while since you posted a photo of her. She is adorable.

It's so hard to get pictures of her! It's like she knows I'm trying and looks away every time.

And good idea! It's been forever since I last stayed in a hotel (20 years or so), so I'm not up on what they generally have.

Didn't have a chance to comment on your previous post, but ugh for having to deal with this because of an idiot/absentminded neighbor. I'm glad the apartment complex is covering the cost of you living elsewhere temporarily.

Would you/them consider AirBnB as a possible alternative to a hotel? That would at least get you a kitchen, and may be less $ for the apartment complex. (It's kind of counterintuitive to do AirBnB in your own city but my parents have had people come stay with them while their house was going through post-fire renovations and stuff.)

Do you use a desktop at work, too, or could you temporarily be using a work laptop, if you can't move your personal computer?

P.S. Along the same lines -- there may also be extended stay hotels that have a fridge and a full kitchen -- like this one. Looks like this one has pet-friendly rooms, too.

I use a laptop at work, but I'm wary about installing my own stuff on it. They're getting tighter and tighter about security... I got my old laptop working. It's slow, and it's giant (it's a gaming laptop), but that's better than nothing. Luckily it does fit in a backpack, since I'll need to take it with me when I leave the room (unless the safe is very big).

Good idea on Air B&B! I'll suggest that to the office.

Ugh, we had those fans going in our kitchen for a week and it was awful :( I'm glad they are paying for you. Maybe if you're being force to eat out you can find someplace that wont' hurt your wallet or waistline as much? This just sucks so much :(

I'm trying to think positive about it -- I have an excuse to eat out a lot! I'll probably go to the supermarket every day and get something I can microwave or a sandwich or something.

I'm really sorry about your apartment!! But I'm glad they are paying for the pet-friendly hotel. That's at least one less thing to stress about. I hope your apartment is back to normal soon and that your budget doesn't suffer as much with the meals and all.

Agreed, and thanks! I hope it really is only three days, and that it goes fast.

While a lot of long-term hotel/motels have microwaves nowadays, if the one they put you up at doesn't, well. Bring one.
