Random media of the random time period
Jun. 3rd, 2020 09:15 pmIt's been a couple weeks since I made one of these posts, so here we go! All TV, because books are covered in other posts and my game playing never changes.
Space Force: Oh I had such high hopes for this show. The trailer was funny, but the show itself was so unfunny that it made me angry. Take this with an "I don't like Steve Carell" grain of salt. If you like him, maybe the show might work better for you.
The plot and everything that happened in the 2.5 eps I saw were so, so, SO, SO stupid. God, it made me angry for days after. This was one of the shows that was supposed to be funny because the characters were so stupid. "Sure, get an untrained dog and/or monkey to do detailed work on a satellite in space! What could possibly go wrong!"
Seriously, I was angry at this show for three days after I dropped it.
The Good Fight: Exactly the opposite of Space Force. Smart. Amazing characters. Great stories. I just wish their season hadn't been cut short (10 eps down to 7).
The Good Wife is the show The Good Fight was based on. People said it was nearly as good as The Good Fight, but I didn't find that at all. I only watched the first five eps (the show went 7 seasons), so maybe it got better in the later seasons. I should probably go back to it sometime.
Both The Good Wife and The Good Fight are about strong women who were "wronged" and who are in the legal field. In Wife, the woman is younger and newer to it, in Fight she was older and very experienced.
The Great is loosely based on the rise of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. I'd call it a dark comedy. Probably the first Hulu show I've enjoyed. I wouldn't call it great, but it's watchable and I haven't been tempted to drop it. Watched 3 of 10 eps.
Deadliest Catch: Crab Fishing in Alaska Sort of by chance, I watched almost all of the current season in a day. One ep left. I hadn't really set out to watch it, but it's the perfect background show: I don't even need to be able to see the screen (it can be buried under a bunch of other windows) and I can still enjoy it.
America's Got Talent and Masterchef: I'm a sucker for reality shows, always have been. Not much to say about these though, they're exactly the same as they've been for 15 or so seasons.
Fell off my plate but not dropped: Community and Major Crimes. I really like both, but I haven't seen an ep of either in weeks.

Date: 2020-06-04 05:07 pm (UTC)The title has something like "*sometimes accurate!" next to the title, which really lowers my expectations on how closely it follows history, haha.
