I've not had time to get a Japanese candy review up lately (I still have a few left to do), so tonight I have a something to make up for it!

A strange-as-heck Japanese commercial! (rightclick -> save target as; file zipped, a 2 MB download) It's for some game I never heard of, combined with McDonalds.

I have a whole collection of Japanese gaming/food commercials, so I might post more another day.

--------

This week's HP100 drabble. The challenge was to write about books/shows/entertainment of the wizarding world.

Title: The Cave of Time
House: Slytherin
Word count: 100
Characters: Ginny
Note: The SOFA challenge: "...books that have no educational value..."

------

As the hot summer breeze and her brothers' laughter floated in through the open window of her room, Ginny flopped down on her bed and thumbed the thin, hand-me-down paperback open.

Her eyes glazed over and she didn't read a word, but the characters' voices still lifted from the page.

"We should take the west path, through the forest!"

"We should go east, to the castle!"

"No, north! To the mountains!"

Without thought, Ginny picked, "East."

In a voice as worn and faded as the cover, the book told her, "For 'east', turn to page 47 to continue your adventure."

Ok. So I can see how the commercial advertises the game (which apparently involves sucking off pants with a vacuum?), but I still don't see where McDonalds comes in. So...odd. *stares*

Have been meaning to ask you if my email went through alright. I suspect it didn't. I tried sending it to "thistle-chaser" and got back an error message saying that you do not exist. I then tried "thistle_chaser", and it seemed to work (ie: no error message), but I think it may have been pulled into the internet's black hole. I swear, I am not usually so computer illiterate that I cannot send email. Really. I'm not. Heh. I was thinking maybe you should email me (dina_darby@hotmail.com), and then I'll reply - that way we can't go wrong.

Also, cute drabble. I got all nostalgic remembering the choose-your-own-adventure books I used to read as a kid.

Yep, no email has arrived from you, so I sent you one! (And isn't it embarrassing when something that's supposed to be simple doesn't work? Happens to me all the time!)

Looks like the sequel to Ape Escape to me.

Then again, this is Japan, so it might be Super Happy Funtime Monkeypants 45 or some such.

Yeah, it's Ape Escape 2001, as it's called in Japan. I don't think it ever hit western shores.
I believe Ape Escape 2 is already out though.
I still have no idea why that guy keeps saying "Tres Bien!" all the time.
