My crotch can kick your crotch's ass!
Dec. 3rd, 2003 11:05 pmSo it'd be hard to miss that I've been into anime lately, right? Well, I'm not so far into liking it that I can't be scared/amused/mocking of stuff in it! Screenshots from two different series:
Ikkitousen
I've mentioned this one once before. I think 'Ikkitousen' must be Japanese for 'women in panties fighting', though there's more in it than just women! Are you into little girls with big breasts? Well, we got that for you, too!
Opening theme song, a sort of English-sounding pop-ish song. We see this woman and that one, lots of panty-shots. Then we see this:
My, what big breasts you have, m'dear!
Turns out her shirt is actually a (short) dress, so she keeps pushing it down. Panties!
Though this is as far as it gets. Dear, you're going to catch your death of cold going out that way!
Then the "camera" sweeps up to her face. Gah! What is she? 11? 12?
So the series features fighting, right? Lots and lots of fighting. The "funny" thing is, every time one of the girls gets punched, her clothing rips a little more! Aren't the male viewers going to be happy just where it happens to rip? Moral of this series: Hit a woman hard enough and *all* of her clothing flies off!
Last but not least, with this many fighting women and panty shots, this was bound to happen. Crotches fight back!
I'll kill you!
You are going to die!
I'm not sure why I took this screenshot, but have a look at another half-naked fighting woman if you like!
(These are all taken from that original ep I downloaded. I wanted to watch the whole thing and give it a fair chance, no matter how undeserving it seemed. It's now living what will be a short but hopefully happy life in my trash bin.)
Prince of Tennis
I've been trying to get into this series. I know, tennis is really, really boring, but a show about basketball won my heart, so how could I not give this a try? Not only that, every fangirl seems to like it, so I've watched a couple eps and I'm really, really trying to get interested in it. No luck on that so far, but some silly dialogue found!
It's double-plus good! No, wait...
His skills haven't, uh, "flowered" why?
(Oh, and I decided to go with the S2 system for my new LJ style. I like it a lot, I just wish it was a little more original. I might have to adjust it more later.)

Date: 2003-12-03 11:53 pm (UTC)Ahem. ~dons pimp hat~ It took me until somewhere into the 40-something episodes before I got over the feeling that I was just gonna give up and not watch any more Prince of Tennis. IMO, it's well worth it to stick through it. I'm not gonna lie and say the plot's great or anything like that (although some of the competitions aren't bad, and some arcs are better than others), but there's an odd sense of humor that I really like in this series, and of course we can't forget the hordes and hordes of pretty boys who are so readily slashable. Every time a new rivals team is introduced, I get all excited at how they'll interact with Seigaku, because there are some interesting interactions. This series is strangely addicting, and I'm not sure I can pinpoint what it is exactly that makes it so, but...well, if you have time, do give it a chance.
I'll stop spamming your comments now, really. ^^; Just couldn't resist, because, you know, current obsession and all.

Date: 2003-12-04 09:47 am (UTC)Totally by chance, yeah. When I'm lacking in recommendations from people, I try downloading random things and seeing if I like them. (Which is how I found Dear Boys! Yay!) I stumbled upon this on by chance, and was rather surprised, amused, and a little scared. :)

Ah, so maybe I was wrong in my decision. First I tried watching some of the really early eps, like single digit ones (though not the very first ones). Yawned at the art, was bored by the storyline. So then I went and downloaded 91-95 and I've been watching those. Think I should go back and start in the beginning? Do the characters get introduction stories and such? Am I missing stuff?
And I'm guessing/hoping there's story outside of the tennis play itself? Anything happening off the court?

Please please please comment as much as you like! I'm trying to pick the brains of experienced folks, and reading comments is one way of doing that! ;)
Thanks!
