Co-worker, co-worker, why'd you get me a Christmas gift? It's nice, but this is our third Christmas working together, and we've never so much as exchanged cards before! Now you've given me something, but I have nothing for you! I'll run out at lunchtime and get you a gift certificate, but how obvious will it be that I wasn't ready for this? Because I wasn't!

Ack! I feel bad, but I didn't know we were suddenly changing! Next time, please give me a head's up.
