It's still two and a half hours till midnight here, but people are out honking and making noise already. I can only hope they're doing it early because they're going to sleep soon. Hee. :)

I don't believe in making resolutions on New Year's; ever since I was a kid, I didn't see the logic in it. Why on New Year's? If you want to make a change, you should start when you decide you need that change... or just ignore it on New Year's like you ignore it every other day. (Note: the "you" in this means "me", but using I/me made it sound odd.)

Since I'm "slacking" and not watching any anime tonight (don't ask me why that feels like slacking), I'm idly watching TV. West Wing actually looks like a pretty good show. I might have to track it down and watch it again in the future. I really like this... Martin? Charlie? Sheen fellow. He was in American President, which is my favorite girly-girly movie ever.

[livejournal.com profile] resonant8 wrote a nice little thing about weight loss/body feelings here. It's short but beautiful, worth checking out if you ever felt like you needed to lose weight. If I were the type to make resolutions, I'd resolve to try to follow that.

I'm really happy with how the Whistle BT project is going. It's up at suprnova.org and anime.mircx.com, as well as a private anime downloading board, and there are currently 70 people downloading it! The number of people jumping on increases by one every couple minutes, so this is especially nice. I'm really, really happy that so many new people are going to be exposed to it; hopefully lots of new fans will appear!

I doubt I'll post again tonight, so Happy New Year to everyone!

The West Wing is a truly great show (though with an unapologetic liberal slant that bothers some people. It is about a Democratic White House, after all.)

The actor that plays President Bartlett is Martin Sheen, born Ramon Estavez. He has two famous sons who are actors - Charlie Sheen, and Emelio Estevez. He's part Spanish, part Irish. (I saw his episode recently of Inside the Actors Studio, or I wouldn't know all this.)

Early seasons are available on DVD, or probably on BitTorrent in the spidery places of the Internet.

Wow, Emelio Estevez is his son? I never knew that! ...but then, I really haven't throught about Estevez since Young Guns and Young Guns 2 were in the theaters...

Yep, I've seen them around in the past. Might have to grab some if I'm low on things to watch.

Thanks!

*nodnods* West Wing's a cool show, my mom and aunt adore it. I've seen it a few times and it's pretty alright. For one of those political, long-winded plotline, boring, soap-opera-ish adult shows that I never bother watching. ;)

I got to witness my sister getting drunk; how was your New Year's, asides from noisy? :)

Hee, that sounds fun! (Not.) :) Mine was great, nice and relaxing, and not too noisy!

Eh, actually it was more fun than it sounded like. She forgot where her room was and all sorts of stuff. :)

There is a kind of magickal energy, I think, when "everyone else is doing it". And it's the time of new beginnings, so a good time to "turn over a new leaf", a little more impetus to make a change. I'm sure that's where the tradition comes from.

Saying this, I don't actually make New Year's resolutions either. But I understand the reasoning behind it.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but sort of in the same way I understand the "logic" behind knocking on wood and thinking that death comes in threes and such...

I tend to think of it not 'as a time to make resolutions' but more as 'a traditional time to review one's life and see if there's anything one needs to change.'

Report-card time, if you will.

That'd work for me more than a time to make resolutions, yeah. Someone on my friends list mentioned liking to do such things better in the springtime, and I agree with that as well. Seems a better time than the dead of winter.
