Take your seats, class, please take your seats. This material will appear on the final exam, so you will probably want to take notes.

Today we will define the term "express pick-up", as used by the CircuitCity chain of electronics stores. The first word in the term, "express", states that this is a quick service -- that a customer should not have to stand at the counter for a full hour while the store's staff attempts to track down the purchased item. The second word, "pick-up", states that the store intends that you actually leave with the item you purchased online. However, like many things in life, this is only theory; no matter that CircuitCity plasters its advertisement for this service all over the various TV stations, it is not something that is currently in practice...

Yes, to make a long story short: I ordered a new monitor online last night. CC's express pickup service stated that yes, Store X had it in stock, and it would be ready for me to pick up today. I went there, and they told me they "lost" it. Buh? So I stood around a full hour while they supposedly checked around for it. Of course they did not find it. Grrr. So the fellow checked other stores in the area, but no one has this model. Long story short, he ordered it online for me. (I could have done that myself last night! Grrr!) And it will take six *business* days to get here! That means it is not coming this week, it'll be *next* week! And that's assuming they even have it in stock at all! If my current monitor fully dies before then, I will be very, very mad.

In an effort to soothe the savage beast within, I decided to do a little shopping for things I didn't really need. There was a Cost Plus World Market next door, and so I stopped in there. *Homer drool.* So much cool stuff there! Foods from everywhere, and lots of cool decoration stuff, too! And all the holiday stuff was 75% off! Woo! I bought a ton of stuff, but most of it was holiday things, so I walked out with a bagful for only $8! Wheee!

Add lunch on top of needless shopping, and I no longer wanted to kill every CircuitCity employee on the planet. However, if they fail to get me my monitor in time, we will have to look at revising that decision...

Oh man! Cost Plus is fabulous! There are a few around Houston and the one we go to has a really cheap Bailey's knockoff and last time we went there I found English toffee that you break apart with a little hammer! And it was cheap!

Hope your monitor arrives safely and in good time, yo!

Yeah, even the stuff that wasn't on sale looked cheap! Amazing place, I want to go back already.

That's so weird. You have the oddest luck.

I've used the Circuit City express pick-up option a few times now, and haven't had any problems with it.

I can't figure out if the world is pushing me to never interact with people ever again, or punishing me for not doing it enough. ;)
