McDonalds: 50 chicken nuggets for $7.99!
Jan. 29th, 2004 02:18 pmOn one of the message boards I wander by, there's a long thread about this special McDonalds will be running on Sunday: 50 Chicken McNuggets for $7.99. One day only, special for the Super Bowl. My first thought was "Mmmm, wish I still ate meat!", which was followed really quickly by a memory of how darned sick I always got after eating just a couple McNuggets (I only ate them once a year or so, McDonalds always made me sick without fail).
Can you imagine eating 50 nuggets? Someone posted the breakdown, no dipping sauces included:
Calories: 2100
Fat: 120g (185% of your daily value)
Saturated Fat: 25g (135% of your daily value)
Cholesterol: 300mg (105% of your daily value)
Sodium: 5600mg (235% of your daily value)
Carbohydrates: 130g (45% of your daily value)
(I'm actually surprised the calories aren't higher.)
So while some tiny little part of me misses the chance to get in on a deal like this (nevermind that it made me sick! 50 chicken nuggets! My favorite food! For only $8!), I'm really rather much happier to stick with my fake chicken nuggets and not be sick. Mmm, soy.

Semi-related to this: With all this mad cow noise going on, there's lots more talk of what sort of things go into livestock feed. Did you know that they still use CHICKEN POOP in cow food? Right now? This very day? Gah. I wish they'd report more about things like this, it makes it even easier to turn non-meatless things down.
(And yes, I know they feed cows a lot worse things than feces, but that was today's topic.)
