For those who don't believe that sniping on eBay works, read this:
I won two items this morning, but for the second I paid over 300% more than I could have. A set of stickers I wanted was being auctioned, bidding started at one penny. Days ago, someone bid a penny. 50 seconds before the auction ended, I bid $5.
50 seconds was way, way, way too long.
The penny bidder must have been watching the end as well, because ten seconds or so later, the price jumped up to 50 cents. Another ten seconds and it was at three dollars. Ten seconds before it ended, the penny bidder had time to bid once more, bumping the final price up to $3.32.
If I had waited until the last ten seconds to bid, I likely would have gotten the item for two cents, or at the most 50 cents. Yes, I was willing to pay up to $5, but if you walk into the store and are willing to pay $2 for milk, but the price is $1, are you going to give them the extra buck? I'd hope not.
Anyway, the stickers are so cool! Haku and Zabuza! With stickers of *young* Haku! Woo!
The second item is a Haku/Zabuza figure! I'm a little worried it's the same one I bought two weeks ago (and am still waiting for delivery from Hong King), but if it is... well, then I'll have two of them!
But anyway, the moral of the story: If you can, wait until the very last second to do your bidding. You'll pay a lot less.
