I am here posting because I forced myself to leave the site I was on before coming to LJ. I will not buy cels. No, I will not. Cels are so keen and so cool (and imagine! Owning part of the series you love!) and they're not even that expensive, but if I get one I won't be able to stop.

Wonderful, wonderful HxH cels out there! But I can't hit 'back' to get URLs to show you, because I'm not going back to those sites. *sniff* Only $30-$40 for a character without a background! Only $120 for a really nice one with a background!

...not really that much money, is it? But what would I *do* with a cel? Do you hang them on a wall? Keep them in a book? Strip naked and paste them to yourself and then do a happy dance? (You probably shouldn't answer that...)

*sniff* Won't buy one, resisting.

But they're so cool! And I could OWN one! *sniff*

Everyone I know who owns cels either has them in a scrapbook or photo album type display, or framed and hanging as art on their wall.

You really don't want to get into buy cels. It can drive you mad.

And even worse, many modern shows are now done entirely on computer, so there aren't any cel artifacts. So, it's a doomed hobby.

But man, they are neat. It's an actual original piece of art from the show itself.

Yeah, I knew about the computer animation thing, which is why I'm a little surprised to find cels now. (I guess Hunter X Hunter was right before the switch.)

But man, they are neat. It's an actual original piece of art from the show itself.

Yeah! Maybe just I'll just get one... or two... or a couple...

I was thinking on my wall, yeah.

You really don't want to get into buy cels. It can drive you mad.

I can feel that already. My fingers are itching to retrace my steps back to the good sites. I could buy them if I want! I have money! ...but the problem isn't starting, it's stopping.

Heh. Don't look at me, I've got a house full of them (framed and hanging on the walls). ::eg::

Well, now I'm back to looking at sites, so eventually I may be joining you! (So weak, so weak...)

You know already of my cel addiction, so I needn't mention that.

For the love of all that is good, do not display cels on a wall. The best way to keep cels is in an acid-free archival cel book. Now, they're really just art books, but these babies are the ones most favored by collectors! The reason that wall display isn't preferred is because of the amount of light the cel can be exposed to. Light is a cel's number one enemy, as it leads to fading. Truly, if you want to get right down to it, cels will inevitably fade no matter what you do-- but the amount of time they last can be greatly increased by as little exposure to light as possible.

For more reading, here are links to a website with articles on Caring for Cels and, if you still really want to frame them, Framing Cels.

And yeah, my hobby is a doomed hobby-- but I don't regret for a moment having gotten into it. :)

This is all your fault, you know. :) And if I get one, it's going on my wall for sure. I want to be able to see it all the time!

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out!
