I've made this twice now, and so I can really recommend this as a great tasting, easy meal to make. Prego pasta bake sauce: Just use the jar of sauce, an equal amount of water, and *uncooked* pasta. Throw it all together in a pan, stick it in the oven for 30 minutes, then take it out and cover it with shredded cheese, and bake for 10 more minutes. All done! You get a really nice baked ziti-type dish (though you can use other pastas than ziti. I think it recommends shells as well? Check the bottle). If you buy a bag of that pre-shredded cheese, this is especially easy. Almost no work, almost no cleanup, and it comes out yummy as heck. What more could you want?
(Wow, I don't think I ever rec'ed a food product in my LJ before... But really, this one deserves it. If you can't or don't like to cook, this is such a great thing. It's like getting a homemade meal with none of the work!)

A couple people have asked me to post my opinion on Witch Hunter Robin once I started watching it, so here we go. I'm far from done with the series (just watched the third ep, out of twenty-six total), but here are my thoughts so far:
During the first ep, I was really worried how Wolf's Rain-ish this felt. Same animation style, the music seemed familiar, and the plot was that same wandering... eh, mess. :} After watching it I hunted down some reviews; if this was a piece of crap, I didn't want to waste the time on it that I had on Wolf's Rain... but everything I read said it was the best thing ever, so I continued.
Ep 2 still didn't hook me, but it wasn't bad. Though the animation, voices, and music were Wolf's Rain-ish, I never said anything but good things about those things in Wolf's Rain, so that's good. I was still "meh" at the end of the ep, but eating lunch helped a lot. :p
Ep 3 grabbed me and clamped down and wouldn't let go. The characters are starting to get fleshed out, and the one with the first real backstory really grabbed me: Michael. Collared Michael. Mmm. I wonder if the boss *literally* collared him, or if he wears it because he's symbolically collared? Either way: MMMMMM. Nothing like a cute boy in a collar, especially against his will. And that he can't even leave the building without permission! Mmm, yes please! Hee.
So I'm going to keep watching more of it today. I have a ton of movies queued up to watch (four Studio Ghibli ones: Castle in the Sky, Ocean Waves (I Can Hear the Sea), Pom Poko, Whisper of the Heart, and the last LotR movie), but they can wait until I get more Witch Hunter.

Oh, and I signed up for Netflix, since they were doing a free month special. They had almost nothing that I wanted to see/couldn't download, but finally I found an anime series that I wanted to see but couldn't find online (Record of the Lodoss(sp?) War), so I ordered that. Once I see it, I'll cancel my membership and that'll be that.

It might not work though, since I believe it needs to be linked from that board itself...
If it doesn't work, send me an email to thistle_chaser AT livejournal DOT com and we'll take this out of LJ comments.

Date: 2004-02-22 01:57 am (UTC)My only real complaints are A) The portions where the fusion of animation styles stands out (I've very, very slowly gotten to where I can deal with that, but it still irks me like crazy), and B) Parts of the tone. There's a certain blend of angst and pretention that pushes my buttons. This actually doesn't hit that, but my spider senses occasionally tingle, if you get me.
All in all, Witch Hunter Robin was something I went in prejudiced against, but it managed to dodge lots of critical bullets. And there's definitely some cool stuff there.
Oh, and about Michael? Mullet =/= Cute. :)
Incidentally, Pom Poko is really cute, especially if you like magical testicles of power.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-22 08:46 am (UTC)That doesn't bother me as much as it does some folks, but I still don't like being able to notice it.

As the eps went on and I saw more of him, I kept peering and asking myself 'Is that a mullet? Why would anyone have a mullet?'. I think it'd fit the character more if he either had long hair or really short hair -- if he doesn't leave the building, it should be some style that doesn't require much cutting... and mullets are just bad, even if you can go get your hair cut whenever you feel like it.
Incidentally, Pom Poko is really cute, especially if you like magical testicles of power.
After getting over my surprise, I started making some screenshots of the furry, bouncing testicles. I'll probably post them today.

Date: 2004-02-23 09:04 am (UTC)Record of Lodoss Wars, like a lot of anime, is good through the first 75% of the series. :)
Re:
Date: 2004-02-23 09:51 am (UTC)Yeah, I know. See, if I knew a movie was good, I wouldn't mind paying money to go see it or rent it. The problem is, so many things are just utter crap abd I don't really want to reward the makers for something that I hate... (I really don't deal with (non-anime) movies often though, so this isn't much of an issue.)

*laughs* Oh no, the end sucks, huh? Oh well.
