thistlechaser: (Catboy Takuto love!)

Not really into Peace Maker Kurogane and not in the mood for more Witch Hunter Robin, I decided to check out one of the other series that I had downloaded. [livejournal.com profile] luminata had said good things about Full Moon wo Sagashite, so knowing no more about it than that she liked it, I downloaded it. (Our tastes are pretty similar, so if she likes something it's a good bet that I might as well.)

As I watched the opening to the first ep, I was (to put it mildly) a little surprised and questioned [livejournal.com profile] luminata's sanity a little bit... (Ah, I hadn't made as many screenshots as I thought I had. You'll just have to imagine what I describe!) Too-cute animals twirling around, cute girls riding rainbows, a bunny-eared woman, and... Him. The moment I spotted Mr. Surly Catboy I started grinning, and I didn't stop until I stopped watching eps. It turns out that Mr. Surly Catboy (who ended up neither being surly nor being named Mr. Catboy) was (get this) an angel of death! Both Takuto and the bunny-eared woman were both angels of death! And the name of their team? Hahahaha! Once I stopped laughing and was able to pick myself up off the floor, I went back to watching.

The main character is a girl who wants to be a singer, and so the angels of death end up helping her try to reach that dream (I won't spoil it by saying how).

While Full Moon wo Sagashite IS very cute, it's not excessively so... but more than that, it's really funny and very touching. I've only seen two (of the fifty-two) eps so far, but I'm already downloading the rest of the series. It's really a wonderful thing, and I love all the characters, and they interact in such amusing ways! (And boy, I think I've developed a thing for catboys!)

I just finished episode 33, so I'm still working on it. I really do like it though, and to be honest, I need a break from the stuff I'm currently watching because I need more variety, so I'm enjoying this for the time being.

*laughs* People often do that, yes. ^^ Seriously though, I'm not sure if you've come across any shoujo romance series before, so this might be a little bit of a jump from stuff you're used to, but that silly cutesy stuff and weirdness you mentioned is pretty standard fare for this genre, especially what you've described in the opening. Hee.

It wasn't until I saw this series that I realized that something different would be nice. Really, everything I watch works around the same general theme, and while I'm not really bored with it quite yet, something like this is just refreshingly different.

Nope, I believe this is the first one. That it'll be different from the other stuff is fine -- there's so much out there to experience! I don't want to lock myself into one little corner of it.

Silly/cute will often (usually?) send me running the other way, but I like how Full Moon handles it. I guess last night I was premature in saying that I loved the series after two eps, but this morning (even with a new subbed PoT downloaded and other series I'm in the middle of), Full Moon is what I want to watch.

So thanks for the rec! I've gotten so many of them from you. :) You're the best!

I think my short attention span is to blame for me constantly searching out new series to watch. I'm enjoying most series I'm currently following (some more than others), so it's not really because I'm tired of them, but as you said, it's nice to have a change of pace.

Full Moon does get a bit um, melodramatic at times, but I like the balance of fluff and angst in this series. While it's not the best thing ever, it's warm, and touching. And I am currently having fangirl seizures over a certain character you haven't met yet. =D

Wah! I need to make Full Moon icons too!
