ISP is working at home. YAY! Nothing like net access to make me feel like I'm not trapped alone on an island.

Follow up at the doctor's. Some good and some bad:

Good: Blood pressure went way down (she said "Very good!"), I have plenty of iron in my blood (which could have been an issue, since I'm not a meat-eater).

Bad: One of the two glucose tests was pretty bad (luckily it was the less important of the two). She's giving me two months to work on changing it with diet and exercise, then I get more bloodwork and we'll see if I need to go on meds or not. As I very much don't want to be on meds (which would probably be injections! Eek!), I'm going to see if I can get 95% of the sugar out of my life. (Luckily she listed "candy, cake, cookies, donuts, pastries" as things to avoid, but didn't tell me I need to stop with white bread and potatoes and such.) Would you believe that just two days ago I made the long drive to get marzipan and bought four large bars of it? *sniff* Going to take it to work tomorrow and give it away. I have a chocolate bunny I need to find a home for, too. *sniff* (On the other hand, removing most of the sugar should help speed along weight loss.)

She looked at my throat, and said there's a virus going wild in our area right now and that's probably what I have. (She named it, but I can't recall what exactly it was. Crusacks Virus, or something like that.) All I can do is "ride it out" and wait for my body to beat it. This actually makes me happy, as antibiotics make me sick as a dog.

Work is going into a mega-sucky period, and I have another medical appointment on Friday (treadmill test! Fun! ...not.), but what're you going to do? Once we get through this week, next week should be semi-better.

*laughs* Well, I'm only giving up 95% of it, not a full 100%, so I'm sure I could fit in an exception to try a little bit of funky candy! (If I dare!)

Yay on the blood pressure and the iron! (The last time I gave blood, they said I was "brimming with iron". I kind of liked the sound of that.)

Here's hoping it isn't too hard to give up the sweets. (Actually, you could probably keep tasting the Japanese candy, couldn't you? The weird salt and chemical chocolate probably doesn't have much sugar in it! :) )

Okay, now I'm curious- to where do you make your marzipan pilgrimages?

"brimming with iron"

*laughs* That sounds great, yeah! (And like you should avoid magnets!)

*snicker* I suppose I could make an exception for funky Japanese stuff, yeah!

Okay, now I'm curious- to where do you make your marzipan pilgrimages?

On Steven's Creek... might be San Jose or might be Santa Clara (the border of the two). There's a Cost Plus World Market. They have such great things, lots of foreign candies included! I love going there, but it's too easy to spend way too much. (I went there just to buy a bar of marzipan, and came out having spent $70!!)
