FFXI is a little like Las Vegas: With no clock displayed, you have no idea how long you've been playing. (You can check the time with a command, but I'm used to using the time in the corner of the screen to track how long I've been online.) I started playing at about 6:30 this morning, and stopped just now, about 10:30. That's... *counts* 16 hours! Wow. I'm very tired, I think I've been on edge for most of those hours! (I did log off twice, but I was gone less than one hour total.)

I'm at level five now (a third of the way to level six), and I died once. BAH! Stupid goblins! I could have taken one, but then two others rushed in and in all my fumbling I couldn't get away from them before they took me down. Bah. Oh well.

On the other side of the coin, I had a lot of fun randomly healing people who were in battles. Most of them were so thankful! And amusingly, twice while I was looking for people to heal, people healed me! Hee. (No one raised me after I died though. This wasn't surprising, as it was a low level area.)

Very, very tired. Forced myself to log off. Here are a couple of screenshots though. (I still haven't figured out how to make them save larger files. I'm 99% sure it can be done, I just haven't figured it out yet... like so many other things in the game! Heh. There's no learning curve to this thing, it's a learning cliff*.)

Where's the best place to hide when someone's trying to make rabbit stew out of you?

The weather, sun, time, and shadow effects are beautiful! (That's *not* the best screenshot ever -- I'm always stuck in the middle of trees when the sun rises/sets.)

See why I hate fish? ;) Or: The most violent fish ever!

* I didn't make that line up, I borrowed it from someone who I can't recall now.

It's addictive, yes. :3 Just type '/clock on' to check the time in reality, as using the button toggle on the second menu turns the ingame clock off unless ya hit it twice. (Even shows moon phases, if you ever take up fishing!)

As for larger screenshots, you can't. You have to use a third-party program to take the screenshots. Personally, I use Clipper. Can't tell you a link for the site, but try searching for it on Google or something. Freeware and takes big screenshots you can show off. :3 (I need to post some of mine.. >.> I have 186 waiting to be sorted. -Gah-. Me? Tourist? Naw~...)

.. I like Pugils. :3 Once you get to the Dunes tho, avoid the suckers like the plague. The fish give good EXP at low levels, but are -totally- not worth it in Valkurm. @_@

What's your POL handle? >.>

Oh, I want to fish, yes! I have the gil to buy a pole, and I see fish all the time, so I should make time to try it.

Thanks for the program idea! I have one downloaded and I'll try it out. If it fails, I'll look for the Clipper one.

Hee, the more screenshots, the better! I love looking at them!

I'm POL Thistle. You?

*zoom* Headed online, so won't reply back for a while.

Line stolen from an old LJ post of mine!

Button uses FRAPS to take full-size screenshots and movies. http://www.fraps.com/

I don't think we're up to anything tomorrow, so if I can sneak away from cleaning the house for a while, I'll come hassle you with one of the many jobs I'm trying to level up.

*laughs* Oh, it was yours! I thought it came from a FAQ or somewhere off-LJ (but I read so much stuff before playing, everything blurred together).

Thanks for the link, and the plan sounds good to me! Hope everything went well last night!
