I had been wondering how I was going to keep up with my anime-watching, but if I watch an ep instead of junk TV over my lunchtime, I'll be able to keep up with my favorite series and a couple of new ones.

Things I liked:

* The video that showed during the opening song.
* The automail girl was sort of cute.
* There was a great new song I hadn't heard in the series before. Sounded a little like chanting. Loved it. (I think it was played during the chase scene?)
* The Winry/automail girl vibes. (I'm not usually into f/f, but that was pretty nice.)

Things I didn't like:

* The opening song itself.
* WTF? A filler ep? After 25? Are they smoking crack? Why now?
* A filler ep? After 25? WTF? Why now? Are they smoking crack?
* Too much Winry. She's semi-cute but mostly annoying. Too much focus on her. No more eps with her as a lead role, please. Thanks!
* The closing song. Just listened to a moment of it. As I skimmed through it, noticed lots and lots of Winry. I hope she's not going to stick with them and become a main character...

Really though, the whole ep seemed to be a waste. Filler. Just tiding us over till next week. The bits with Mustang were kind of good, but... too little in this ep.

What's her name, the book-girl, I liked her (tiny) role a lot. Mustang though, mmm. Both very interesting and quite yummy! I'd really like to see more of him. Lots more.

I really need to replace a ton of my icons, like 40 of the 50 of them. So bored with them! Need to make new ones.

I didn't mind that Winry was taking the lead for an episode here (if it follows the manga, as I'm told, she's actually going to stay in Rush Valley to work as an apprentice to the auto-mail guy... but I don't know if the anime actually WILL follow the manga there) and there were some good parts. I liked her interaction with the girl a lot... but, dammit, that ending where she was crying over feeling betrayed that Ed wasn't satisfied with her auto-mail really pissed me off. She SHOULD KNOW BETTER, dammit. It's not about the auto-mail, dammit! And I really didn't need to be *thisclose* to being flashed by Winry in the new ED. >_o I still really like her, but these were not her best moments.

However, Izumi-sensei, Seig, and Roy made up for that. *twirls* Oh, my god, even if she was only there for about thirty seconds, Izumi-sensei rocks my world. And Roy's "....WTF was that?" expression after she and Seig leave was priceless. And Roy and just... how much he cares...! About Hughes, about Ed (and Al), about what's going on.... I flail like a good little fangirl now. XD

Agreed, her anger didn't seem in-character for the moment. And hitting the two of them? Bah. (A big 'bah' for such cartoon silliness after the realism of the last ep! But also for the reasons you stated in your post.)

RAWR, I want my Scar backstory NOW, Kthxbye. >.<

Yeah, the fluff episode RIGHT AFTER 25 - even if there were hints at the deeper things happening back home - made me mad.

And the entire new ending-theme is winrycentric. Winry and the dog (Den, I think it's name is) and no on else. I like winry and everything, but I don't like Winry that much.

One of my friends said she hoped the ending theme would rotate, and a new character be featured each time. While that would be cool as hell, I'm not really expecting that to happen.

And yeah, they hinted at stuff coming, but... but... I mean, after 25! They should have kept the power of it going, not let it slack back. (Though maybe, since there are 25 more eps to go, they didn't want it to build too soon...)

It also kind of makes sense, because this episode featured Ed, and Al prominently, who are to date, COMPLETELY UNAWARE that anything is wrong.

Which is really terrible.

But I still feel kind of gypped. Except for the really good Mustang parts - I kind of realize that he's willing to do anything now to get to where he needs to be.

True, I hadn't really considered that Ed and Al still don't know.

. Except for the really good Mustang parts - I kind of realize that he's willing to do anything now to get to where he needs to be.

Seems like he's matured, too. No more flashy stuff, nothing about short skirts, now he's focused on his goals.
