Whatever night we're on, I forget. Uneventful night. Took 3-ish hours to make 2,000+ XP and level up (9 now). Took nearly as many hours to run around and do crap for NPCs (got a couple jobs done). Used the AH for the first time and bought my tunic. (A normal one was about 2,000 gil, but one with +1 defense was 4,000-6,000. 6,000 was about all I had, and I didn't know if +1 was worth that much more cost (I suspected not), so I went with the normal one.)

I didn't die once! (Woo!) I'm killing goblins without much trouble now! (YAY!) At least outside the city, things were dead quiet tonight. Donno why. I leveled for nearly an hour without seeing one person, and outside that there was usually only one other person around. I had thought I'd like quiet nights better, but I think I like more active ones. (More people for me to heal/protect, and more to come and help if I get into trouble.)

Not much exciting happened, so just a few screenshots tonight.

Oh, I did get a shield! Here I am with shield, weapon, and robe (old outfit). Front, side, back (like this one best). All of those images are cropped, so they're smaller than most screenshots. New outfit, my tunic: Front and side with shield. (Those are cropped as well.) I like how the robe looks better, but I suppose sooner or later I'll level up to whatever the next armor is. (I should look that up.)

My new spells aren't overly handy (remove paralyze and remove poison). My desk is a mess and my WHM FAQ appears to be lost, so I'll have to look up which spells come next. Hopefully useful things.

A few more screenshots! These were beautiful ones!

While healing/recovering/resting, I watched the moon rise. You can actually watch it rise! It's so cool.

Sunset by the port area.

And my favorite of the night, another sunrise. Pretty colors! Rainbow reflection!

I hope it rains sooner or later, I'd like to see what that's like.

Your character uses a double-headed hammer. How cool is that. I'd imagine they'd be very effective for bashing goblin heads in. How's the recovery time for the weapon? And uhm... you can ignore me now. I was just curious, although I'll probably never play the game, so it doesn't matter.

Yeah, it's kickass that a white mage actually gets to lay out the hurt with hammers. XD Lessee... Recovery-time for a hammer... varies. They're usually a little slower than a regular sword, but not as slow as a staff and certainly nowhere near as slow as a greatsword or scythe or whatnot. It's kinna hard to give an accurate idea unless you play the game.

Ninja-WhiteMage! Dualwielding hammer-thwacky-goodness! >o</

No problem! Ask as much as you like! :)

The hammer is cool, yep! Did you see my old weapon? A stupid oversized cross! This is much, much better. Its speed is okay. I don't think it's great (monsters tend to hit me twice for my one hit to them), but faster things are probably for higher level folks, so...

For a hammer, only two hits for every one is a pretty good ratio. XD I didn't get to see your other weapon. I am wondering how a cross can be considered a weapon. o.O

I don't seem to have a really good shot of it, but you can sort of see it here: http://www.hot-hot-hot-catlove.com/ffxi/violentfish.jpg

o.O Please tell me that cross thingie has magic capabilities, or at leasts gives a boost to your magic stats. Because... what did they expect you to do? Bludgeon those damned goblins to death? Or perhaps stab them, hence the pointy edge at the end of it. XD In that case, it's an even cruder weapon than a hammer or a staff. This amuses me.

*laughs* I know! All you do is hit the monster with the round end! (The pointy part looks more dangerous, doesn't it?) I'm *so* glad to be rid of it!

Next thing you'll wanna get is a Linnen Robe. No worries, the thing's less expensive than the tunic and looks just like the level 1 Robe. XD

That is, unless you wanna shell out the gil for a Doublet when you get to 11. That's the great thing about White Mages, they can actually wear things that can protect them (slightly) better than just robes and stuff. Like an awesome level 40 breastplate. *_* ... Ahem.

Removing paralyze and poison gets to be rather important once you start partying and/or actually fighting things that inflict those kinds of status on you for any length of time. The Mesmerizers' poison is -nothing- compared to a Rock Lizard's Plaque Breath. @_@ That's killed me so many times. XD

And if you wanna see rain sometime, go to the southern zone point in West Ron. That'll take you to the Plateau. There's weather effects there, there aren't any in the forest outside Sandy. ^^ I think the most common ones are rain and windstorms.

Hee! So I can go back to looking like everyone else!

Heh! I'd love the breastplate now, but I suppose it's a little out of my range. ;) The doublet sounds cool though! Assuming I have enough gil, I just might! (And now that I'm fighting goblins, that'll get better. They actually drop money! Woo!)

And if you wanna see rain sometime, go to the southern zone point in West Ron.

Ah, something for the future. I'm slowly working my way out from the city, but it's slow going. (I'm just barely reaching the sheep area as of last night.)

Thanks!

Hm, you're level what now.. Nine? You should be able to pretty much range all the way through the forest without too much troubles. I was hunting around the lake with my level 8 Black Mage at one point, but then, I coulda just been lucky. I'm from Bastok, so I could be very off about judging the difficulty of things there. ^^; Best thing tho, is there's a zone right there if you get in danger and need to run. Just run to the plateau instead of the city to escape the monsters.

Yep, nine! Okay, sounds good. I'll do some leveling up first to minimize the XP loss if I do run into trouble, then tonight I'll venture further! Eee, new places to see! New places to get lost in! ;)

Yeah, at level 9, you can totally go out to La Theine. You might not be able to solo anything there, but you're a WHM so you don't have to. =)

I was very very conservative and cautious my first time through these areas, and while I recognize that was probably a good thing as it saved me from dying more often than I did, on my second trip through as Paladin, I'm leveling a lot faster and seeing a lot of new stuff that I missed the first time.

I'd just head out there and check the place out. If you hang around long enough, someone will ask you to join their party; even if you're not into that, La Theine is an awfully pretty zone.

Aren't they? The game is so great, just on a pretty-ness factor!

I might resize that last sunset one and use it as wallpaper here at work...
