Linka-dinka-doo!
Apr. 27th, 2004 10:03 amFF A+ -- A very funny (old school) FF flash movie. Amazingly, it was done by a high school student! The flash/animation rocks my socks, and his Japanese is (as far as I can tell) wonderful. (It was for his Japanese final exam.) Very funny, check it out!
Slept like a dead thing most of last night, but I'm still tired today. Five hours of sleep, even when good sleep, aren't enough to make up for a night of nearly no sleep (and none of it good).
FFXI foo: Why do I feel guilty when I don't do leveling up? Bah. Well, I leveled in cooking and fishing! I'm 9 in cooking and 16 (I think? or 15) in fishing. When I hit 18 I need to go back to Windy for the fishing test -- I have the fish for it already, it'll be getting there that's the real test! If those 'free ride on a chocobo' tickets worked for people who didn't have a license, it'd be easy. Oh well, it'll be a while before I need to go. (Fishing takes longer to level than cooking, it seems.) Edit: Oh heck, there's a cooking test, too. I bet it's level 8 as well! And I think the guild is in Windy? Bah. Need to look that up as soon as I post this. Edit: Bah, test at 8, yes. Okay, tonight's plan is to get to Windy. Edit again! Or maybe I'll stop cooking and just go to Windy when my fishing test is ready...
Since my stuff at the AH just won't sell, I had to find another way to make money. Surprisingly, I can make a couple thousand (3-4K) in a couple hours with no risk at all: Killing things in the newbie zone! While I get zero XP for it, I can sell the drops to various NPCs. It's sort of fun, too. (However, I started doing it to try to get crystals, and I never get any. I don't know if crystal drops have to do with level difference, or if I've just been highly unlucky the past couple nights.)
Maybe I'll poke about and look for a random party tonight... though I don't really like the idea of working with strangers. That's the only thing I really dislike about FFXI: It *forces* you to work with others; you cannot get far alone (especially if you're a white mage!). Or maybe I'll fish/cook... or maybe I'll finish leveling my black mage (which I can do alone for another couple of levels).

I usually read a book while killing things between the entryway and the NPC on the side of the road -- past there is bigger orc country. The chasm just south of the entrance is also nice, since there are no bigger gobs there.

Date: 2004-04-27 11:37 am (UTC)Oh, thanks for the reminder about La Theine! I did ponder checking out the first bit of it by myself, but then I forgot. I don't get bored from leveling at all -- I'm too on edge watching for sneaky goblins or nasty orcs. Thanks! I think that'll be my plan for tonight!
