Bwahahaha! Watch out, HP100!
May. 5th, 2004 01:44 pmWhile deleting PokeMUSH's community LJ (*sniff*), I noticed I still have mod status at
hp100! Heehee. I could do all sorts of evil things! Delete the whole LJ! Change the layout! Edit things so that Slytherin wins all the time!
...but instead I'll just ignore it. Even though I don't write for
hp100 anymore, modding it sure was fun. I really liked coming up with challenges for folks and helping people and answering questions and stuff.
Edit: Hey,
milkthistle deleted her LJ. Anyone know what's up with her?
Edit 2: Mmmm, Way, way yummy art. (M/M, but work safe.)

Anime and various computer stuff:
I figured out how to burn DVDs and not lose (much) FFXI time: Burn things while I'm at work or asleep! Start it before I walk out the door, then check it when I return. This means I can't stay logged in on FFXI, but since all I'm selling in my bazaar nowadays is fishing bait, it doesn't matter much. (As far as I can tell, insect balls don't sell at all. Period. It's not a big deal since they're cheap, but the more they vanish, the more skill I can increase by making more.)
Anyway, I have 25 (of 26, the last one wouldn't fit) Fruits Basket (subbed) burning now. I'll stick #26 and the 1-12 dubbed version on another DVD.
Recall that I got an external harddrive, and that it was supposed to check my internal harddrive and automatically keep itself up to date? Ha ha ha! They sure did pull a good joke on me! While the initial copying works fine, it never updates itself (it tries, but it produces assorted and seemingly random errors). Since I can't fix it (it looks like a problem with the (free) software that came with it, not the drive itself), what I might do is delete the whole backup and copy the whole drive over monthly or something. (I wonder how long it'd take the computer to delete 70 gig?) The internal harddrive stopped making the odd noise, so I'm not as worried about it as I had been.
I watched the second ep of Monster over lunchtime, and while I like the show a lot, I'm afraid I don't see why it's The show everyone has as number one on their list of the new anime season. A lot of the characters look really odd (I'm suspecting that anyone we're not supposed to like is drawn poorly on purpose), and I don't have any characters I care about. (Even the main character doctor. He let himself be used, he put himself in a bad position, and he was in love with a poorly drawn woman. Yes, it seems the Japanese way to get yourself into that situation and stay in it, but still, why am *I* going to identify with him for it?) I do love love love the show's music though, both opening and closing themes.
Being very, very tempted by Gundam Seed. I blame
luminata.

Date: 2004-05-05 08:00 pm (UTC)Question for you re: burning DVDs. I recently upgraded to a DVD burner drive, and was wondering if you ever get random errors and stuff when you burn anime on dvds like you did on cdrs? I still get them occasionally, which is disappointing cause they're so much more expensive than cdrs. ;.;

Date: 2004-05-06 01:42 pm (UTC)If you're already using a major brand name, then the only other thing I know about is the speed. I'm not sure WHAT about the speed (maybe it needs to be slower than your burner??), but I know a speed mismatch can cause errors.
You probably know this but: You're running no other programs at the same time, right? Every single other window closed?
Good luck with it!
